About Me

I graduated from Miami University, located in Oxford, Ohio.
I studied environmental policy because I care about the world and stuff.

I play guitar and it's one of my favorite things to do.

Things I enjoy are: geology, baseball, folk music, scarves, vinyl records, writing in black ink, black coffee, tea, wine, whiskey, craft beer, and a good pair of socks.

It's life and life only.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The sharing economy is of great importance to me. It is more than common sense; it is intuitive. I host when I have the means to, which hasn't been often in the past, but I'm looking for that to change in the future.

My experience with CouchSurfing has been fantastic. In Spring 2012, I lived with a host family in Copenhagen, Denmark. For two weeks I traveled by train around Europe and I had great hosts in Berlin and Dresden, Germany. My experiences with these people were so rewarding and they stick out as some of my most memorable times abroad.

In Spring 2013 I traveled to Santa Barbara, California for an academic conference and spent a weekend exploring the city while couchsurfing and actually surfing.

In the Spring of 2014 I traveled from New York City to Los Angeles by train, via Canada. I couchsurfed in Montreal and Seattle and had superb hosts in both locales.

In the Winter of 2015 I traveled to Martinique in the Caribbean for a long weekend and had one of the most incredible experiences of my life when they took me snorkeling to swim with sea turtles.

Interests

I enjoy some sports, politics, drinking (tea, coffee, alcohol, water, anything), good vegetarian food, and saving the Earth.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Anything Jack White has touched, The Black Keys, LCD Soundsystem, Pokey LaFarge, Kanye, Kendrick Lamar, David Bowie, etc etc etc.

Books: Vonnegut. Hodgman. Emerson. Franzen. Safran Foer. Dahl. Bradbury.

Movies: Anything by Wes Anderson. Pixar. The Blues Brothers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I met Bill Nye. I met Jack White, twice. I met Neil deGrasse Tyson. I met Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. Patrick was busy talking to friends. They drove a Honda Element. It was in Cleveland, Ohio. I can prove everyone of these statements, except for The Black Keys stuff. For that you'll have to take me at my word, as an honest Ohioan.

Teach, Learn, Share

I play guitar, and if you don't I'd be happy to teach you some stuff!

I also know a lot about the environment and sustainability, if those are interests of yours.

My expertise since 2013 has been in the world of coffee, from visiting farms to purchasing green coffee, to roasting, to serving. Ask away!

I'd like to learn about your country, state, or hometown. Your culture. Your history.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I don't own a couch, but I have a floor. It includes a roof. Definitely a pillow. Probably a blanket.

I currently have a very nice sleeping bag I'd be willing to share.
