About Me

I'm a designer, developer, excited human, perpetually a student of whatever the universe puts in front of me. Right now I'm building Roof (www.roof.io), learning everything I can, playing ALL the time, turning sounds into music, and finding new friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm driving (back) to San Francisco, CA after spending two months in my home of Raleigh, NC—and taking the long route. I'm looking for some beautiful people to meet and beautiful places to explore along the way. Bed & shower is a bonus!

Interests

I like finding new ways to contribute to the evolution of humanity—whether it's making a tool/game/idea/piece of art, talking about ethics/society/evolution, playing stoned chess at 3am or just throwing a rager. I get excited about YOU and the stuff you think is cool and meaningful.

I feel like a 7-year-old with a box of legos when I'm coding—which is a lot of the time. I make and listen to music at the right times, which is often. My leftover time I spend talking, listening, climbing/running/doing yoga, or getting recklessly crazy.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies aren't super meaningful to me, but my music loves include everything from Frank Ocean and Aminé, to Snarky Puppy and Hiatus Kaiyote, to Y La Bamba and Tom Misch and any deadly sexy late night DJ set.

Books are HUGE in my life, especially audiobooks. I've had my perspective and personal values shaped deeply by books like Stealing Fire (Steven Kotler & Jamie Wheal), Tribe (Sebastien Junger), Ishmael (Daniel Quinn), Sapiens (Yuval Noah Harrari), The Clockwork Universe (Edward Dolnick), and have tumbled through elegant, emotional narratives like A Gentleman In Moscow (Amor Towles), Ali & Nino (Kurban Said), and plenty by George Saunders or Joan Didion. Kurt Vonnegut and Chuck Palahniuk both earn special mentions. I'm still learning to appreciate poetry that isn't three-line verses next to pretty sketches.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed Angel's Landing in Zion National Park during a thunderstorm. By no means a suggestion for anyone with consideration for their own safety. Highly recommended for anyone looking to audit their personal values, get an adrenaline rush, or get spiritually reacquainted with the sublime.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Primarily, ideas and conversations—the pollination that enables intellectual evolution. My physical belongings are few and deliberately chosen, but can and always will be parted with when necessary.
