My wife Kayla and I live in an efficient 400sqf apartment less than a mile from the heart of Anchorage, Alaska. We were both raised here in AK and love the outdoors. We love people and sharing our home. We've got a sled dog named Byrd and he accompanies us just about everywhere.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We are new to Couchsurfing, but familiar with the lifestyle. Kayla and I both love traveling! As a flight attendant for Horizon Air, Kayla receives flight benefits that allow us to fly abroad. Why would you pay for a motel when you could be immersed in the local culture and see a new place through the perspective of someone who calls that place home?

Interests

When we're free and the weather is clear, you can find us biking the many local trails, hiking, snowboarding, camping, fishing, kayaking, throwing disc golf, swimming, road tripping, and shooting.

When it's a struggle to be in the weather, we enjoy reading, cooking, playing cards or board games, or grabbing a beer at one of our local breweries.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Alchemist is a recent read that we both couldn't put down. We enjoy thought provoking fiction, a spiritual enriching read or words that carry knowledge to grow the brain. Our local theater offers $5 movies on Tuesdays, so we may watch a new flick every now and then. No TV in our home, however, we'll watch a favorite show on our laptops. We love listening to many genres of music and we're both determined to learn to create music.

Teach, Learn, Share

Although Kayla and I both work full time, we love meeting new people and showing off our state. If you're itchin' to play outside or looking for the best place to dine, we'll be your concierge. Both born and raised, we know a fair amount of the land and our culture. With open minds we welcome you to teach us the same.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We have a small efficient 400sqf. 1br apartment located less than a mile from downtown Anchorage. It is situated on the second floor of a fourplex, offering large windows and lots of light. We have very friendly neighbors and share a private enclosed yard with outdoor furniture, bbq and a fire pit. The living room and kitchen are separated from the bedroom by a door and offer privacy. There is a couch for one to sleep and room on the floor for a cot or sleeping pads which we can provide. We're able to squeeze two humans if it's a shorter stay. It's cozy but you're probably not here in Alaska to be cooped up indoors all day. Our yard is large enough to pop a few tents outside as well. We have several bikes, longboards and a plethora of snowboards you may use. You're welcome to use anything in our home. If you like your privacy, you will have it. If you prefer company, we're generally showered and presentable.
