About Me
ABOUT ME
I like to learn. I love history, cultures, beautiful places. I am a bit of a geek, I love film festivals, arthouse cinema and theatre, and I am always up for finding something interesting to do in the evening. I fully intend to be a crazy cat lady when I'm old.
PHILOSOPHY
I don't think I believe in 'maximizing' my life - there's a lot of value in the small moments as well as the large ones. The reason for it all is people...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've been working with and for travellers for years. My parents raised us with language exchange students, some of whom stayed with us for a year or more. I try hard to understand and appreciate that mine is not the only worldview. I moved to Melbourne in 2014. So now I'm a newbie in a foreign city, and am loving getting to know it.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've done the typical London thing, sleeping on floors and couches of friends while I backpacked around. Mostly though I backpacked. To date I've hosted but not couch-surfed myself via this site. I hope to change that eventually.
Interests
I love theatre, film, books, travel, day trips, coffee, history, travel, art galleries and museums, new experiences, travel, dumplings, meals at good restaurants, walks, DVDs and a glass of wine. And travel. ;)

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - generally either rock, or singer-songwriter mellow stuff. It's amazing what you can find on Bandcamp.
Books - mostly urban fantasy at the moment. But I will read pretty much anything. I prefer fiction.
Movies...My preference is indie, arthouse and festival films. You can't beat a good blockbuster for zoning out and relaxing though!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Viewing the mountain gorillas in the wild in the DR Congo
Camping out under the stars in Wadi Rum in Jordan
Spending a month interviewing and researching in Samoa for my degree
Eating melt-in-mouth dim sum in a Michelin-starred restaurant in a back street in Hong Kong
Swimming a horse in Lake Malawi
Teacher-aiding a class of 80 kids in a school in Uganda - scary! ;)
Theatre manager for a month during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival - sleep is for the weak!
Teach, Learn, Share
I am trying to always say yes to new experiences.
