Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING I participate in CS by hosting people in Vienna when I have time to spend with them and genuinely enjoy the experience. On the other side, I'm not a typical CS traveler. I usually don't surf when traveling because I don't have much "vacation time" during the year so I don't want to depend on anyone in terms of accommodation and time restrictions. But I will use CS to meet locals and join fun activities. This I think is the core for both hosting and surfing reasons - learning from others and embarking together on temporary adventures. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE I have hosted already more than 50 people. Some have become very dear to my heart, some maybe did not have enough time to spend in my city so our adventure was short. I have learned or experienced positive things from each of them and I made sure we shared at least one smile or good feeling together. The experience so far was great and through my guests I have managed to discover and re-discover the city I live in. They also made my free time more enjoyable by sharing their presence with me. When I do not host, I sometimes go for coffee with travelers or give a walking tour of the city, sharing with them the knowledge I have about it. It's interesting how every time I pass near a place in different company the perspective and experience changes. *** IMPORTANT *** My CS guests are mainly girls as you can see from the references list so this is an important part I want my future guests to read before they decide to surf at my place. Being a single man, living in a modern, fast-paced city and hosting female travelers in a shared apartment has brought up these questions several times from my guests: 1. Are you on CS to look for a girlfriend? The answer to this one is NO, I don't believe the "traveler girl type" does really fit well with the "stable job guy" type. 2. Why do you host mainly girls? I'm shy around girls and I want to learn more about them so that I can enjoy their presence better. Also from the experiences I had so far, I found out that it's easy to host girls and the talks and activities we have together bring higher value (chances are the average traveler girl is more interested in culture and arts than having beers at the bar all night talking about the game on TV - this I can do with my friends anyway) 3. Do you expect to sleep with the girls that you host? *Let me start by saying that from the stories I hear from my guests, more people need to address this Tabu question in an honest way on their profiles, so that it makes everyone's life easier. I like to host girls that are fun and open minded but you will never be asked to sleep with me in exchange for accomodation.
Sometimes there’s mutual attraction and things can happen but this should always be with consent.
I like people that are fun and want to go out partying, so if this is your idea of a good trip write a couch request.

Interests

IT (because of my job and yeah... technology is cool)
People, socializing and sharing views on the word and life.
Culture and art.
I also enjoy talking about movies or documentaries.

Music, Movies, and Books

Wide range and changes based on mood and occasion. They all must provide a feeling I desire in that moment or teach me something.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I can enjoy the present moment, I consider it an amazing thing accomplished. Also when I can make someone smile.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - Not sure what I can teach someone, I can tell and you can decide what you want to learn from it.

Learn - I want to learn about you as a person and your culture. If I can improve some of the languages I speak, that is also nice.

Share - My experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My time - most valuable item I've got so make sure you value this gift a lot.

My living space, comfort and everything else there is related to what having a guest in your house means.

Countries I’ve Visited

Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Slovakia, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In

Austria, Romania
