About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet new people, see new places and cut out the middle man

ABOUT ME

I'm a committed cyclist in the summer (training and racing), I cross country ski recreationally in the winter , hang out with friends, try and visit a few new places every year, tinker with guitar and piano, love meeting new people and learning new things.

I've been vegan since 2010 (pretty relaxed and non-judgmental with regards to others on the topic - it's a personal choice). Unfortunately I'm very allergic to cats - my Kryptonite :(

PHILOSOPHY

Balance is the key

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have yet to couch surf via this web-site but have couch surfed many times. I'm able to host a few times a year. I share a two bedroom with a roommate otherwise would do so more frequently.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met three New Zealand girls at the Calgary Stampede while I was travelling with my brother. We exchanged information and about a month later while travelling through Toronto, they stayed with me for two weeks.
They were mostly independent and basically took over the living room. It was a lot of fun. This took place in 2009.

In 2010, Leonie from Switzerland came to stay for a week and we've kept in touch since. She calls me her big brother. She stayed with me until leaving Toronto for the West coast of Canada.

I've become more fond of Buffalo, NY the past few years and have since hosted several Buffalonians at my place in Toronto. One fella wanted to cycle from Buffalo to Toronto on his 63rd birthday. He planned and was prepared but only made it to Hamilton (about half-way). I got the call at 10PM and drove halfway to Buffalo to find him and drive him back to my place. Because of his struggle, I gave him my room to get a good sleep and surfed my own couch. Other Buffalonians included Henry who came for Nuit Blanche and Nathaniel who flew to Hawaii via Toronto Pearson. I got up at 4:30am to get him there (note that Nathaniel has hosted me in Buffalo so what goes around comes around).

Circled by man eating sharks off the west coast of Australia. Took a picture as evidence in case eaten.

Teach, Learn, Share

Peel your bananas from the bottom. It's easier, doesn't smush your banana and that's how chimps do it. I think they know best.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a pretty handy guy. Perhaps something needs a little fixin'?
