About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Maintaining my happiness; seeing the beautiful nature and cultures of the world; finding the right path in life.

ABOUT ME

I try to keep myself in a positive bubble and isolate myself from negativity. I have a need to have fun; this doesn't mean I need to go out and spend money and do something outrageous. Mostly peripatetic. I like to hitchhike; its amazing the people you can meet and the things you can learn from them when all you're trying to do is get across town. I've been called witty, studious, relaxed and spontaneous. Some people think I'm funny but I'm not so sure... I like to think of myself as open-minded. I like to drink beer and work out/play sports, which cancel each other out....... but hey, I try

PHILOSOPHY

"Often the difference between a successful man and a failure is not one's better abilities or ideas, but the courage that one has to bet on his ideas, to take a calculated risk, and to act."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Living a largely peripatetic lifestyle I haven't hosted yet, but have crashed on quite a few wonderful couches/beds.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

More awesome than Barney, and that's saying something. Most of my hosts have been wonderful people who have gone out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. I really hope this remains a permanent pattern.

Interests

Politics; sports; anthropology; women; cooking; nature; new experiences; figuring out what makes people tick (and often trying to find ways to push their buttons); searching for the meaning of life, or at the very least searching for ways to make life more meaningful

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything by the Coen Brothers, Judd Apatow, Robert Redford. Michael Mann
90's hip-hop, classic rock, Jazz, Reggae/Dub, Bossa Nova
Books on Middle Eastern cultures, foreign policy, travel literature, Malcolm Gladwell gets better with each book I was a big fan of Goosebumps back in the day!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived through a category 5 hurricane that destroyed my home, and was then on CNN.

Snowboarded down sand dunes to scrap the wax off my board at the end of winter.

Found trouble in most of the countries I've been to.

Abducted by aliens (no j/k, but it would be pretty amazing!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to cook an awesome wine sauce.
I can teach you to read a palm.
I can teach you how to armpit fart.
I can teach you a few words in several languages.
I can teach a whole bunch of other things you can ask about in person
