About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel, Eat, Drink, Meet people and maybe learn a little something from it

ABOUT ME

I strongly believe the best people you meet are the ones you can just spend a relaxed time with over a drink and share some good stories and experiences, but when the time calls for it, ready to let their hair down and just have a crazy fun time doing new things. I just want to travel to different places, meet the local people, drink what they drink, eat what they eat and maybe learn a little something from it.

I have lived and worked in India, the US and Spain. The American and Spanish adventures had me out of India for the better part of 6 years. I moved back to India in 2012 to pursue my interest in tourism and hospitality. Having worked nearly a year in Taj, I joined my cousin in starting restaurants across India. One of our restaurants, Savya Rasa was rated in the Top 50 Restaurants in India by Conde Nast Traveler!

For the past year, I've been running a boutique whisky company called The Whisky Advisor : www.thewhiskyadvisor.com. This is my passion and I'm hoping to make a career out of it! If you're traveling to India from abroad, I'd be delighted if you could carry along a couple of bottles of whisk(e)y for me! Only if I'm paying for them, though!

***Please read the CS guidelines and send personalized requests. Couchsurfers host people in their homes (Not free hostels) and take the time to show you hidden gems in their cities. Please, let's try to maintain the CS spirit***

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've attended a bunch of CS events, hosted a fair number of surfers, given visitors tips and advice to get around the cities I've lived in, apart from surfing myself. I took a bit of a break since moving back to India, but looking to get back in to it in 2018.

If you've got this far, please write a line about your experience with whisky in your couch request. This is only to see if you've taken the interest to read my profile. I've been getting a slew of one line requests just looking for a free place to stay lately and it's getting really tiring.

Interests

Whisky, traveling and music are my main interests... I used to be into photography a fair bit. My resolution for 2018 is to get back into it.

Movies - Casablanca, Dances with wolves, My cousin Vinny, I could go on and on
Books - City of Joy, The world is flat and anything by Bill Bryson
Music - Jazz, Blues, Classic Rock mainly..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Machu Picchu, Peru. Sorrounded by the Andes... Even though it teems with tourists, the place is serene, peaceful and magnificent all at the same time!

Ladakh, India. The Indian provice of Ladakh with snow capped mountains, cold deserts, monasteries, lakes and god knows what... I was just blown away with every corner I turned.

Kosi Bay, South Africa. Snorkeling with dolphins and reef sharks, pristine beaches and fishing on lakes. Paradise!

2 years in Europe was sensational, so many amazing experiences and people... Hope to travel in more places in the years to come!

All that said, there are so many places yet to visit in good old India...

Teach, Learn, Share

Travel and life stories.. A comfortable home to stay and all the hospitality to go with it. And of course, possibly a dram or two!
