That last few years have taught me that Couchsurfing is very different than its 2010 heyday. The transition to a for-profit business, the rise of Airbnb, and the pandemic have left the platform in a sad state. These days, I typically sort out my own accommodation while traveling, but always down to meet likeminded folks and ride bikes to vegan eateries.

In 2017, I spent a lot of time by myself. I stepped foot in the Arctic Ocean, I rode bikes around Key West, saw whales/puffins/icebergs in Newfoundland, and even crossed the entirety of Labrador before it was fully paved. The previous five years were mostly spent working overseas. In 2018, I got into tech and have been working remotely since 2020.
