Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am planning a trip to New Zealand in hopes of hitchhiking and backpacking around the country for a month, and was hoping to find a few places to stay and meet people. I am very new to this and am on a budget but I would like to be able to contribute to my stay whenever possible.
