Über mich

CURRENT MISSION

Love, Truth, and Happiness

ABOUT ME

I'm passionate, eager to find out more about the world, see different concepts of life & living, and simply live my life! Music (I'm a singer) and books are very important for me. I write. I love trying out new things. I like to sail, I love the sea, I did learn surfing in Hawaii in 2008 but I'm a terrible beginner, I love to be spontaneous, get a gigantic tattoo just because I feel like it or drink wine and talk politics and philosophy until the morning... but I can just watch Trash-TV or cheesy movies and be all happy, too. Or play cards for 10 hours. Or hike and go camping. I'm sensitive and respectful to what other people believe, how they want to be treated and how they feel. I'm a bit stubborn and proud. I don't ever push myself on people. I can be alone very well and respect other people's privacy. I love to eat and drink and enjoy life. I love all animals and most humans. I have a cat allergy although I adore cats. I'm very enthusiastic. I am a good listener, and I am willing to help you whenever I can. I'm honest. I'm both tidy and clean to an average degree. I have horrible time management. I can cry at a sad commercial or a preview. I make dirty jokes when you least expect it. I love to study, and I am hoping that the book I am writing right now is going to change something for the better. I know where I wanna be in 5 years, but I don't know where I'm gonna be tomorrow. I love to dream. I'm a smoker, but a respectful one. I am talented with languages but a disaster with numbers, names and sometimes even faces. But I will definitely remember a kind person or a good story for the rest of my life. Oh and last, but not least: I'm a huge Beatles Fan. They're the best band in the world. We can debate over this if you want. But I'll win.

PHILOSOPHY

"Only the gentle can ever be strong." (James Dean)

"It's important, at least once in a lifetime, not to BE strong, but to FEEL strong...to depend on nothing but your own hands and your own mind."

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Creating good memories together. Always learning something, always offering to teach something, may it be a Thai Curry recipe, a dirty Turkish joke, a philosophical idea, or how to win against anyone in Backgammon ;-) I mainly surf because I only have a room in a flatshare not suited for CS, but my hosts have literally all become my friends afterwards and I have many times become friends with their friends, have been visited by them, etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was tattood by my couch surfing host in Kauai... I stayed with him for two weeks, and got to know his friends, the most wonderful people on earth. They all came, held my hand, sat on the lanai, drank a beer and just were there when I needed a brake. The session was, in total and over the course of three days, 23 hours long.

I couchsurfed in Genova and my host and his band turned out to be quite a big deal in town. On the third day he offered to fly me in again and play five days of concerts together in great Blues and Jazz bars in Genoa. Those five days ended up being amongst the most memorable days of my life.

Interessen

I write songs, and sing, I love to listen to music, and read books. Philosophy is very important to me- but concerts, beer and cigarettes, as well as friends, and love, are important, too. And of course: Travelling.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I'll try and pick three out of each category, which is kinda hard...but okay..

1) Movies: Indiana Jones (all of them. But the one with Sean Connery is probably my favorite.), Into the Wild, The Notebook (oh, Ryan…)
2) Music: The Beatles, Kate Nash, Damien Rice, everything from the 60's (brilliant) & 90's (trashy)
3) Books: Nighttrain to Lisbon, Pascal Mercier; The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Milan Kundera; Crime and Punishment, Fyodor Dostoevsky

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Seeing the Dalai Lama at close range was big... he has an incomparable energy.

Falling in love...it always feels like the first, the biggest, the most important thing while having it! EVERY time :)

Coffee and cigarettes - who said that's not healthy?:)

I hitchhiked from Hamburg to Amsterdam at 4 am in the morning, drunk and determined... and a driver gave me 150 Euros and bought me a fast-train ticket because he was rich but had no time to spent the money. The only thing he wanted from me was a postcard from Amsterdam and that I hand it on as soon as I have money to give. When I was sober again, I was sitting in Amsterdam, on a Thursday. Had to make a few phone calls. Stayed in a hostel for one night, had an amazing time and hitchhiked back.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

Teach: I could easily give you an Introduction in Philosophy, or in certain topics of philosophy and political theory like distributive justice, liberalism, mass persuasion and propaganda, moral philosophy, Kant, Hegel, Marx, philosophy of freedom, applied ethics (on topics like euthanasia, abortion, and the question of personal identity), Arguments for or against Atheism, Logics, Migration Politics and Democratic Theory; I can also make the best popcorn in the world, and I can cook quite yummy Turkish or Thai food. Or you can learn a language, if you like. I speak English, German, Turkish and French.
Learn: Surfing (the only time I stood up was on a gigantic board. I want to improve!), things about wine, everything about the musical history and the legends of Jazz and Blues, or just about your perspective on life.
Share: Lets share our happiness, our sadness, and whatever there is in between.
