About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To interact and meet with local and worldwide Couchsurfers!
ABOUT ME
I'm a student from Pennsylvania, studying Marine Biology in a small college town called Millersville. I'm a friendly, sociable person who is always willing to meet new people. I'm also extremely curious about different cultures, a great listener/conversationalist, and an optimist. One of my favorite things to do is sit down with a person over a drink and hear what they have to say; whether it be their philosophies about life and the universe, or simply whatever happens to be on their mind.
PHILOSOPHY
I have two quotes that just about summarize my philosophies on life:
"Life is a jest, and all things show it; I thought so once, and now I know it."
And
"Vi Veri Veniversum Vivus Vici."
"By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'd love to start hosting, though I'm afraid I don't live in a terribly exciting area of the States!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've surfed once so far, and I can't wait for round two!
Interests
I've always been interested in learning about another's trials and tribulations. I like to learn what's made a person who they are today. I'm also interested in experiencing new things, especially if they're challenging for the body and the mind. I love discovering new food, music, books, and movies as well.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm into a variety of movies, music, and books, but I'll try to narrow it down and name just a few of my favorites.
Movies:
Leon The Professional, Gangs of New York, What Dreams May Come, Dead Poets Society, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, Big Fish, Sleepy Hollow, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Juno, and Howl's Moving Castle
Music:
Mumford and Sons, Dry The River, Florence & The Machine, Ben Folds, Bernhoft, Coheed And Cambria, Billy Talent, Flogging Molly, Five For Fighting, Thriving Ivory, The Beatles, The Killers, Pentatonix, Bob Dylan, RHCP, Incubus, Weezer, Sublime, and Streetlight Manifesto
Books:
Neil Gaiman is my favorite writer. So far I've read his books American Gods, Anansi Boys, and The Graveyard Book. My goal is to read all of his novels. I'm also happy to have read V for Vendetta, All My Friends Are Dead, Einstein's Dreams, Days of Little Texas, some Anne Rice, Mr. g, and a bit of manga.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'd have to say the most amazing thing I've done so far is leave everything I've ever known and loved behind to embrace a new life in a different country. It's been the best decision of my life so far, as short as that life may be.
Teach, Learn, Share
I haven't got much to say in this area, because I'm just a beginner, so learning is all I can do at the moment. However, If I had to say anything that I've learned from living in Paris for eight months, it would have to be these two things:
#1. Learn the language of the country you're surfing in. Even if it's just a little bit, they'll appreciate that you tried.
#2. Do your best to find a community you can connect with. It's a great way to make friends and come into your own. For example, I was introduced to a guy, now one of my closest friends, who performs at multiple Open Mics. I started going frequently to his performances, and ended up making friends with the rest of the singers and musicians who would come to play. I've become a part of their musical community, and couldn't be happier.
There's so much I don't know, and so much I'd like to learn. If you have any advice to give, I'll gladly take it, with much appreciation.
