About Me

In 2013 a professional opportunity arose and made me able to leave Québec. At first, the plan was to stay in Thailand and India for two years... Though once I started living in India, I could never think of going back to Canada. I am now permanently living in Rishikesh since 2015, with my husband and our two cats. As we live in a conservative Indian community, we cannot host, but we do enjoy meeting people of different culture, so hanging out and going around is always an option :-)

Et, les Québécois, n’hésitez pas à me contacter si vous êtes en visite ici! Parler la langue un peu, ça ferait du bien :-D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As the years are passing by, Rishikesh is becoming more and more commercial and touristic, and it is not that easy to find it’s hidden beauties. To help the people who are visiting discover the amazing places of this city is very fulfilling.

Interests

My fiancee and me have a background in underground rock, metal and electronic music scene, but we have recently turned our back on that and went deep into Indian classical music, more specifically dhrupad. I have started learning dhrupad since 2018, which will take at least 5 years of daily practice before being ready to part from my guru. It is a very interesting and deeply spiritual path that is taking me on a journey that I could have never imagined.

Aside from that, as I grew up in the forests of Canada, my connection to nature is very deep rooted, and I have been able to fulfil it over here by doing small treks and camping whenever I get the time.

I also have a good knowledge of aromatherapy, as my mom is doing her Ph D in that matter. Essential oils are the pharmacy of nature, and their use extend much further than only smell, as they have a lot of healing properties and can be use internally as well as topically. Since many years I have started making my own cosmetics, like creams (face, foot, body, and medicated creams also), hair oil, soaps, etc.

I am entertaining the dream of someday changing career by starting to sell my cosmetics and also becoming trek leader... let’s see what life is preparing for me!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Gundecha Brothers, Senior Dagar Brothers, Mohiuddin Dagar
Movies: I don’t know, anything! Donnie Darko maybe?
Books: Use to be into polars, now switched to more “spiritual” reading I guess. Ayurveda and the Mind was mind blowing, and I’m hoping to get through the Bhagavad gita someday.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I moved to India.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can always share about how to cook Indian food in a healthy way, my experience on moving here, my knowledge of essential oils and natural cosmetics, and probably a lot of other stuff!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am very busy but if I happen to have free time, I love to hang out on the Ganga beaches, at the waterfalls, or camping and going for a small trek to Kunjapuri.
