ABOUT ME

I'm someone who's trying to get it all crammed in before I'm ninety nine. Adventure is high on my list of necessities though, so I move around a lot and try to manage the different projects. Home is in Canada but I also spend a lot of time in the Netherlands.

Have traveled extensively as a soldier, both in the Canadian and French Army. Now that that life is over, I go out on my own. I'm also, now, a Pacifist.

Recently returned from Africa. Currently playing in a band again, doing some visual art, working the bar at night and studying Divination. I also do Tarot Readings, in a downtown coffee house, during the day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never surfed personally - but have hooked up with other surfers, even just to pass along travel/guide info or go for a drink.

Interests

Music - I play piano, guitar, bass and trumpet (father was a music teacher.) Was in a house band for a live music venue before my last departure. My whole family (eight) used to sing in churches when I was a kid - not unlike the Von Trapp family, from the Sound of Music. Now play in a band, in Ottawa.

Visual art - I went to night school, for a couple of years as a boy, for visual arts; continued art studies through high school. I oil paint or draw when I get a big inspiration. I have studied all styles but I'm strictly into Realism.

Cycling, running and swimming - I love my bicycles and spend as much time on them as possible. I run regularly and try to get myself into the pool as often as possible...

Astrology - I've been studying Divination for a while now. It's been overwhelmingly beneficial and has made my understanding of life and people much more complete.

Aviation - I've done sport and military parachuting but I also love being behind the yoke, in the pilot's seat.

Classic motorcycles - I got rid of my dirt and street bikes and bought an old '68 Twin. I've never gone back. Currently riding a '73 550.

Travel - have worked in/visited thirty three countries.

Have taken up Meditation. Why have I waited so long...???

Music, Movies, and Books

Everyone has their own tastes - like the opera. Some favourite films are The Mission, Lawrence of Arabia, and Chariots of Fire; I loved American Beauty.

Musically, I like the rock stuff that has come out of the UK. Classical is good too. I like to listen to contemporary Can/American stuff...I was in an Acid Jazz band when I got out of the Canadian Army. Had the privilege to play with some fantastic musicians.

All non-fictional adventure/survivalist stories are straight pleasure. I also love books on history, geography, aviation and astrology.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was in the French Foreign Legion for a while - spent two years in French Guyana; the jungle stays with you forever.

Teach, Learn, Share

In a few lines...

There is an entire wealth of knowledge which will never be taught through mainstream education - because our culture is designed for other people's convenience (from marketing schemes, to religious and political leaders.) It exists to make us political individuals.

The Esoteric Studies, Sacred Geometry, Hermetic Philosophy, Astrology...how different things would be if our schools included these. The power and magnificence of human consciousness.

My ONE big thing: LEARNING MEDITATION. Spending time away from Beta Wave and into Theta - ie the natural state of one's mind. Then go for a swim in the positive energy (White) that has always radiated, off the charts, from our universe.
