About Me
Hello! I'm Ümit, a digital nomad. After a year's break, my passion for travel is stronger than ever. As a software engineer working remotely for a London-based company, I'm embarking on a new adventure from mid-December to April, starting in Georgia and exploring various countries across Asia.
For me, each journey is more than just traveling - it's an exploration and learning experience. The world is my school, every city a new lesson, and each encounter a new teaching. My past travels have shown me that the most valuable moments are often unplanned - an unexpected conversation in a local market, a hidden café discovered in a back alley, or a spontaneous local festival.
The freedom of remote work allows me to explore the world through 'slow travel.' I aim to spend enough time in each destination to feel its true rhythm. Working from local cafés in the morning, getting lost in city streets in the evenings, discovering local flavors, becoming part of each city's story...
What I value most in my travels is immersing myself in different cultures' daily life. I prefer local spots to tourist attractions. Tasting fresh fruits at a neighborhood market, trying the daily special at a corner restaurant, chatting with locals in the park... That's why I find Couchsurfing so valuable - it gives me the chance to experience each city like a local.
Travel and technology are two essential parts of my life. The analytical thinking and problem-solving skills I've gained in software development help me adapt to any situation during my travels. Meanwhile, the new perspectives I gain from different cultures inspire creative solutions in my software projects.
After a year's break, I'm ready to hit the road again. This time, I have a slightly different approach - I want to be more spontaneous, open, and sharing. While my journey starts in Georgia with a planned route, I'm open to unexpected changes and new ideas. If our paths align or you'd like to travel together for a while, please reach out.
Beyond travel, I'm passionate about photography, local music, and street art. I love discovering street artists' works, listening to local musicians, and photographing the natural flow of daily life in every city I visit. These hobbies give me a chance to see each city from a different perspective.
For me, the most valuable travel experiences are shared ones. A city discovered together, a new dish tasted together, an unexpected adventure shared... That's why being active on Couchsurfing means so much to me. Many friendships I've made as both host and guest still continue today.
During the next five months, I hope to not only discover new places but also build new friendships, experience different lifestyles, and create unforgettable memories. Maybe one day our paths will cross, and we'll write new stories together!
I've always believed that the best travel plans are the unplanned ones. So while I have a route in mind, I'm always open to spontaneous changes and new friendships. If you're thinking of a similar route or think our paths might cross, please send me a message. Who knows, it might be the beginning of a great friendship!
