About Me
Hello :-) I'm reserved, but social; I'm lazy, but I love to do many things; I'm usually nice and caring, but I love to argue too and if I dislike someone, I make him/her dislike me a lot! O:-) It seems that I'm clever and interested in (too many) things, but I also enjoy being silly :-) Banality is OK sometimes, but it has to be mixed with a bit of elitism!
In a few words, I'm made of some kind of crazyness, peppered with joy of life, a strong need of freedom, equity, openess and... curiosity, curiosity, soooo much curiosity!!!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The quote of the moment: "if you have more than you need, build a longer table, not an higher fence" :) I think this explain everything!
So I am in CS because... well, I've always been a couchsurfer, but on the couch of friends :) I've been in hundreds of different couches and beds during the last 20 years, but outside the CS site, so that's why I have so few references :O
The only time I've been a guest of somebody's couch via CS it was in Dublin, when I was there in 2016 hitchhiking: but it was my friend Silvia who asked the couch :)
Actually *maybe* I can accept guests, but it's more a distant hope than a reality, a bit more real during the weekends of autumn/winter than other times... but my availability is really random, sorry :O
I'd really love to interact with my guests, but my usual schedule is very crazy, my google calendar looks like the tetris game :) I'm often away, I work at strange times and so on... So I just give hospitality to people when it happens to have some spare time to know each other and to share... for example, I'd really appreciate if someone will cook with me and teach me how to prepare a meal from another country :)
I'd really love to share my place - if there will be the opportunity - with people who love mountains: I love long and difficult treks on high mountains (still not climbing: but maybe it will change soon) and it will be lovely to talk about different experiences on the moutains (and as a backpacker too).
PLEASE NOTICE THAT I HAVE THREE CATS IN MY APARTMENT!!!!
They are absolutely lovely, but still they are cats and have the fur (so don't expect my house to be perfectly clean) and sometimes they do nasty things around the floor :P
Interests
Politics, education, music, books, intentional communities, travelling, mountains, nature...
Well, I think it's very important to say that I'm an anarchist... a nice anarchist, actually ;) I mean that I don't usually do things that other non-anarchist people think as "extremism" (I say "usually", not "never"!).
I'm more on the slow educational side of the anarchist theory, making people confortable to discuss together and slowly opening doors of "another possible world".
That also means that it would be easy to argue if people coming here would be fascists, racists, homophobic, sexists, etc.! I don't pretend people coming here to be anarchists - of course -, but I don't have the energy, the time, etc. to open the doors of this place to people with radically different fundamental values.
I'm into an educational project (do you know democratic, non-directive education for kids and adults too?), but I'm also looking for a deeper connection to the earth, really the soil and plants (actually I don't have a garden, but I've produced some grapes anyway on my terrace!!) :)
I'm also looking for different connection to people... I'm a kind of relationship anarchist (something that looks like polyamory, but it's not the same thing) and I'm slooooowly moving towards my long term goal of living... no, to promote an intentional community.
Music, Movies, and Books
Hardcore/punk rock, industrial, noise, avangard, post rock, some electronic, ethnic music..
Just some movies: "Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind", "Eyes Wide Shut", "Out of Africa"...
I read a lot, actually a lot of political stuff about how to change this old world trying to avoid a tragic fate :O so many anarchist texts, just a few novels - the most beloved one is "History" of Elsa Morante... but I also loved Yukio Mishima a lot!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm still alive :) loving and receiving love :) being a friend and having friends!
(I'm still alive is not a joke: I was close to death some times thanks to me being crazy! so... well, it is incredible that I am alive :O )
Of course, I think that deciding to go hitchhiking for the first time in Ireland after I turned 40 was an incredible thing: in some ways it's like I'm getting younger the older I get... :) I am more ready to move outside my comfort zone now than when I was 20 years old!
Teach, Learn, Share
I don't like to teach anything to anyone :) I can just share who I am an what I know - and I suppose to have a good experience and knowledge about many different topics, it is a pros of being so old ;)
So, remember: "to share" is a wonderful verb!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Myself, of course.. And a lot of chatting!
My deepest concern is that I've got some difficulties explaining my most complicated thoughts in a language different than italian :O sometimes I get very frustrated, to comunicate is everything!!!!
(Well, it seems that I speak English better than what I think: I just have to get relaxed and enjoy :)
As I've told you before, I'd love to share cooking and a meal: I think that taking time to eating and chatting around a table is one the most important focal points of society, it's something that we need to recover as a "routine".
###
Also, I can give a safe place and that's why I am proposing my place *first* for girls/women (but actually I am open to both sexes and obviously also to queer and trans people, both WtM or MtW): some female friends told me about the feeling of being looked for sex here in CS - but, men: please use Tinder or OKC instead! -, something that makes me sick :(
I remember a very bad case of many rapes some years ago against couchsurfing travellers here in Padova due to a guy, actually a Carabinieri (and don't ask me why I don't like the police...).
So if I can do something good to protect the freedom of women and their right to be completely safe... well, I'm here :)
(Well, also women are usually a little more kind, clean and polite than men, something that I appreciate A LOT... I know, it's a stereotype, but we were raised by stereotype and so some of them get into our lives, so actually it is true that women are a little more kind, clean and polite than men)
"Obviously", meeting people also bring the possibility to get to know by chance somebody who "match" very well with me.. of course, I can't say that I will never fall in love with anybody that I will host, but I want to make very clear that I am not using CS as a dating app: I use the already cited OKC for that, let's meet there instead ;)
