ABOUT ME
I believe that most people are nice and that you should trust in the good side of everyone. I'm a kitchen philosopher, who likes to think and occasionally talk deeply and I like to ask myself "why?" about everything. But I know that some questions can't be answered, which I like to reply to with humour.
I like languages - my mother tongue as well as foreign languages. I enjoy the fun and the joy that you have when merging thoughts while communicating as well as the challenge, when it comes to a point, where it's difficult to find words for feelings or reasons.
I work hard, I party hard and I relax smoothly. I try to do the things I do consequently and the right way. :-) Maybe sometimes I'm too perfectionistic, and still a little bit clumsy and scatterbrained, but all in all, I aim to be trustable, reliable and nice.
PHILOSOPHY
»Nous sommes tous de lopins et d'une contexture si informe et diverse, que chaque piece, chaque moment, faict son jeu. Et se trouve autant de difference de nous ÃÆÃÂ nous mesmes, que de nous ÃÆÃÂ autruy.«
"We all are consisting of colorful patches only, hanging together so loose and lose, that each single one every moment flutters, as he wants; so there are as many differences between us and ourselves as between us and the others."
- Michel de Montaigne, Essias, second book, 1
Well, maybe something about my attitude to happiness: I guess it just comes to you, if you let it. Large parts of your soul are shaped by the thoughts you have every day. Try to find happiness by yourself in the good things and deeds of your life each and every day. Think positively and be content. It will work. There are only 3 real problems: death, illness and injury. The rest are masterable issues.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Hosting whenever I can. Sometimes surfing, when I'm on the road. If I feel more like making my own plans I stay in hostels but then at least I try to meet locals for a drink. I take part in the local gatherings and visit some of the big summer and winter gatherings. Spreading the word of couchsurfing to my grandparents and everyone who likes to hear about it.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
During my stay in Tampere, I first heard about CouchSurfing during a trip by meeting a CouchSurfer-girl from my home university by chance. She was traveling using CouchSurfing and we had nice chats. So I thought I give it a try - what do you have to lose?
I started going to local gatherings. In Tampere, the local CS group met about 2 times a week and people take you in very quickly - the athmosphere was gorgeous. 50% foreigner and 50% locals and always some guests around. It was never boring and everyone had his own unique story to tell. I experienced the same spirit back in Dresden, in Berlin and now in Stuttgart. Most people are just so open, positive-thinking and modest.
In New York City, I am staying only for 3 months for a project of my company. I tried to host as many people as possible since I had a lot of space in the flat provided by my company. It was a fun time.
Don't be mad at me if you don't get a reference from me right away. I take my time to write something really nice especially for you. I hope you can see this if you read the references I already gave.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books:
favourite: "Nachtzug nach Lissabon" (Night train to Lissabon)
otherwise adventure literature about places where it's hard to travel to like "7 Jahre in Tibet" (7 years in Tibet), "Der Drachenläufer"
Music:
music from different cultures, e.g. finnish music (not the dark one but more the happy or melancholic one) - e.g. Scandinavian Music Group and Ultra Bra. I'm also a big fan of Ska.
Movies:
all kind of trash to entertain myself. You can have real culture in theaters, which I am occasionally visiting.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The best year in my life was my stay in Finland. There are so many very good memories. So many moments that I appreciate...
The sauna-evening, where I first dared to speak the foreign language. A sitsit-party with afterparty and sauna, where I twisted my ankle but still didn't stop partying. Many many good and musical winter evenings together with the student choir. Playing in the kyykkä championship together with my finnish friend and his highschool friends.
Teach, Learn, Share
I try to learn everything about music and languages. Feel free to share your thoughts and give me some mini-lessons. I dance a brazilian dance called Forró which I am very passionate about. We can try dancing and maybe there is a Forró party somewhere when we meet. I am a passionate photographer, I can teach you about photography but I am also still learning. We can go on a phototour together.
You can also tell me about your studies or profession, no matter what you are doing - I am interested in almost everything new. I hopefully still have a long life to learn and love listening to people who are passionate about what they are doing.
