About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm a documentary filmmaker, expressive arts therapist, and musician looking for connection, laughter, and adventure. I love to learn new languages, and at the same time I find the best connections are often beyond words. I love nature, and am passionate about wilderness conservation.
When I'm not traveling, I live off-grid in a little floating shack in the Northwest Territories, Canada, where I paddle a canoe to get home part of the year. The off-grid life is simple, a lot of work, and most of the time I love it (not so much the times I want to sleep in and have a hot shower at home). I love new experiences, adventure, and to share smiles wherever I go.
NOTE: If you are requesting to stay at my house, YOU MUST WRITE that you have read the "My Home" description. Off-grid life is not for everyone ;-) Otherwise I'm not available.
I can connect you to the partner dance community in Yellowknife if that is something that interests you. There is also a small number of us practicing in contact improvisation.
PHILOSOPHY
Leave it better than you found it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
showing folks around and hosting when I have time, attending couchsurfing gatherings, surfing when I travel.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My partner and I went on a six month adventure through Europe, where we met many new friends, went to open mics and jam sessions, and volunteered. We have had wonderful experiences both hosting when we are in Canada (mostly at Taylor's home on land) and staying with people as well. We've attended a packed couchsurfing gathering in Nicosia, gone on a couple of roadtrips with surfers, and met wonderful people from all over.
Now that my dog is learning some manners, I have been hosting people a little more often on my houseboat. However my place is very small so I can really only host one person at a time, and I prefer to only host for one night at a time (my home is only 12ft x 12ft). I also don't have running water or a shower, so it's an experience for those adventurous folks who love off-grid living! I love meeting travelers and showing people around, so give me a holler even if I'm not hosting or you're squeamish about peeing in a bucket. It's possible I can give you a tour of the houseboat or hook you into what's happening in town even if I can't host. I am also self-employed and pretty busy so unfortunately I do need my guests to be a bit self-sufficient in terms of finding your way around town and that kind of thing, however if I have time I'm more than happy to help you get from place to place and to recommend a good place to eat, etc.
