About Me

CURRENT MISSION

good movement, good music, good conversation

ABOUT ME

What up! I'm an extroverted, laid-back, outdoorsy type of person who likes to stay busy. I love rock climbing, backpacking/camping, playing ultimate frisbee, or just hanging out in the park with a beer on a sunny day. I am a seeker of good music - I play guitar, go to lots of live shows. I love board games like Settlers of Catan and Dominion. I go to Burning Man and other festivals on a regular basis. I enjoy chatting about psychology and the study of happiness, it's a fascinating subject which I think will one day save the world.

I'm always down to grab a beer somewhere =)

And I love traveling of course!

PHILOSOPHY

The definition of crazy is to do the same thing over and over and expect different results. If something's not working in your life, try something else...anything else."

"Prioritize sleep over everything. It gives you the energy you want to do everything else in life."

"Spend more of your social life with people you truly like. Don't compromise for people who are just OK."

"Be yourself. Understand what kinds of things you like and don't like doing, and don't do things just to fit in."

"Travel is one if the best things you can do to enrich your life."

"Don't just be yourself, be your BEST self."

"Always find a way to keep physical exercise in your weekly routine. They key is finding physical activities you like doing and fit with your personality and friend groups as well as schedule."

"Don't say goodbye to people you care about. They know how you feel and you will see them again, if it means enough to both of you to do so."

"When you aren't sure whether what the right decision is, bias towards whatever gives you new experiences. (Hint: this probably involves leaving your house)."

"Watching too much TV (or Netflix, etc) is a waste of time and doesn't lead to a furfulling life. When you are old, do you think you'll you are more likely to be happy saying "wow I'm glad I watched so many tv shows and movies”?"

"Only pursue money as an enabler of experience."

"Remember that everyone is always doing the best they can with the (emotional) resources they have available to them. In other words, cut people some slack."

"Every man is the architect of his own fortune" -Caesar

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed in Europe and the US, hosted people here and there. The last few years I've been more involved in the events aspect of the community, attending and hosting events myself. Now days I go to the occasional CS meetup and host people about once a month.

Interests

Travel! All things outdoors - climbing, hiking, camping, backpacking, or just sitting in the park on a sunny day when the former are not accessible... music, guitar, drawing, board games, cooking asian food, meeting new people, community building.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some books that have really stood out to me in the past few years:
The Unbearable Lightness of Being
Developing Ecological Consciousness
Shantaram

Music: too much great music to list. I listen to music most of the day, every day.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Encountered a long-lost childhood friend while transferring trains in Paris!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to write code, rock climb, throw a frisbee, or play guitar!

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can cook food together, go see some live music or make our own (lots of instruments around), go rock climbing or running, play board games, drink beer and be merry!

I am an unofficial tour guide for San Francisco due to my job (especially bars!) so I'd be happy to give you suggestions on things to see.

Countries I’ve Visited
