About Me

I'm a recent college graduate with a degree in Spanish and Art History, and I am currently volunteering in Southern England as a youth worker. Before this year, I worked as a nursery attendant, a camp counselor, and a resident assistant at my university. I am hoping to continue working with people and creating new opportunities for them to learn more about themselves, whether it's through camps, charity work, or museums.

I have traveled to several states in the US, and I am looking forward to seeing the wider world before I go back to the US. My goal is to see all 50 states by the time I'm 30. I'm about 3/5 of the way there.

I love travelling because of all the people I meet and the stories they share. I love trying the new foods, culture, and learning a bit of the language. My favorite part about traveling is finding the hidden gems in a new city, something that is often overlooked by tourists, but significant to the local people. You learn so much by engaging yourself in the world and experiencing different ways of life, and each of my travels has added something significant to mine.

My achievements in life so far are earning a college degree, sky diving, moving to another country, and creating a volunteer program at camp to give opportunities and experience to people of all ages.

My goals are to walk the Compostela de Santiago, to live in at least three continents, and to share my stories with others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on CS because I love meeting new people. People have the greatest experiences, and I love hearing about them. My experience of CS is that the people on it love to meet other people and share and create experiences with other. It's a great way to meet the amazing people in the world.

Interests

One of my greatest hobbies is cooking. For the most part, I usually find interesting recipes on the internet or from friends. My favorite is cajun. It's an interest I inherited from my dad, and the best part about cooking is that I can share it with other people, whether they are my family, friends, co-workers, or anyone else.

I enjoy hiking, reading, knitting, exploring, photography, and listening to live music. My interests generally include things I can share with other people but can also by something I can enjoy on my own, and these interests have the best combination of both.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music tastes are rather varied, but I generally listen to folk, jazz, and alternative rock. My favorite bands are Angus & Julia Stone, the Decemberists, Beirut, Selah Sue, Imagine Dragons, and Bastille.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed a 14K mountain when I was 17. It took us the whole day, and a couple trial runs, but we made it to the top. The best view is from the top of a mountain because you can truly see everything laid out in front of you.

I also grew up with three brothers, which is an achievement in itself.

Teach, Learn, Share

I learned how to unicycle 11 years ago with my brothers, and often end up giving people the chance to try it when I'm out riding. It was through unicycling that my brothers and I join a juggling club, and learned the diabolo, juggling, and various other circus like acts.

I consider myself a life-long student, even though I am no longer in university. There is so much to learn outside of textbooks, lectures, and discussions, and I love learning new things just by living life. I often am reading new books and trying new foods to help expand my knowledge.

To me, my travels and adventures are not designed to be kept to myself. When I go home, I love sharing my stories, new recipes, and photos with family and friends back home, and with other people I meet while I'm traveling. It's through sharing that we become inspired and inspire others to travel and learn.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share stories, cooked meals, and photos of our time together.

I have studied a variety of art and its history, particularly in regards to buildings.
