About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm the singer in a band from Milwaukee. I'm on Couch Surfing because we tour a lot, and often need safe places to sleep for just one night per city.

ABOUT ME

Hi, my name's James. I sing for a band out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We have released 5 studio albums and toured the country a lot. I'm an animal lover, a good listener, a great story-teller, a very strong friend, and I have high standards for myself and those I care about. I'm a clean, considerate individual very aware of my surroundings and willing to do whatever it takes to facilitate the happiness and success of myself and those around me.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to meet and understand as many different people as possible. I want to inspire people, and I want them to inspire me. I need to tell the truth at all times, and I would like people to feel motivated to tell me the truth as well. I have no reason to lie.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Once I'm settled in a better apartment, I would like to host Couch Surfers anytime I can. In the meantime, I must rely on those who are more settled to help me with my music by letting my band stay the night while we're on tour.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

For the better part of a decade, we have been sleeping on the floors (and couches) of strangers in all of the lower 48 states. It has been amazing to see how many people will take us in for the night after seeing us perform, but sometimes it's a little stressful until we can find a place to sleep. I'm trying Couch Surfing Dot Org in an effort to line up new friends for our next couple of tours BEFORE we get to those cities. I think it'll be good for my blood pressure ;)

Interests

I like movies -- comedy, horror, romance, action, anything really -- and television in moderation. I adore tasty food, especially when it's good for me (especially "slow food" when I can afford it). Board games and card games are great, bowling is a lot of fun. Sometimes there's nothing better than listening to the radio with a couple of friends. I love people-watching, especially over coffee or a bagel. I don't have enough bonfires in my life, but that would be a high priority if I could make it one. I've been known to enjoy a tasty beer from time to time. One day I'll get my butt in gear and get back in the habit of riding my bicycle. But in the meantime, I spend most of my time doing NONE of the above, but instead just booking tours and traveling with my band. It's pretty grand.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have never seen a movie that I regretted watching. I really like them all. I like country music, rock and roll, good blues, old jazz, folk and bluegrass. I haven't read a lot of books, I keep myself too busy for that...but I enjoy Tim O'Brien's writing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I finally saw the Grand Canyon, on tour in the summer of 2011. It was prett-tty amazing. I have saved a couple of lives, and I feel good about that. And while I can't always do it, I've discovered and implemented actual forgiveness several times in my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

A conversation works best when one person speaks while the other listens, and neither competes for time or volume.
