About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To boldly not go anywhere, for a while, its comfortable here and i can make bacon whenever i want.

ABOUT ME

I was born in Northern Ireland, went to study live in the UK for seven years then decided to come south of the border for a while. While this is a weak excuse for 'living abroad' it still counts!
I work in IT and spend my spare time on a bike, in a boat or in-front of a computer feeling sorry for myself for not being on a bike / boat, i used to do rock climbing however this is the one thing which Cork isn't all that great for, so thats on-hold until someone digs a decent climbing quarry.
I participate in traditional music and less recently, electronic music, so there are an unnecessary number of musical instrument lying around the house. You can often find me in a pub about cork belting out some tunes, usually noticeably sharp :(

PHILOSOPHY

I lurk somewhere between a Platonist and a Stoic, im also a Theist, though Pantheism or Deism are also probably valid descriptions for my life and beliefs

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

im a selfish git and i really only want to meet and experience new cultures without having to get on an airplane or book time of work to do so.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have a lot of friends in the Cork area who are very involved in this weird cult. I have briefly met some lovely surfers through them.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies:
I like big summer blockbuster movies, cathartic, childish action /adventure with a strict devision between good and evil, and a guaranteed happy ending.

Music:
You will be hard pushed to find music i don't enjoy, though thees days i fund myself more and more disinterested in the middle-of-the-road rock bands.

Books:
I love reeding, i grew up on si-fi and fantasy, and for that reason my favorite book is still probably Dune, however since university i have been reeding a load of history, politics, philosophy and classics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i played a gig in Moscow, it was the farthest i have traveled from home and taught me a lot about Russia's present, and myself to boot.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Lots about music, technical and traditional, i have various instruments on hand if you want to try them out. i can teach you storage networking as well, but i may give you a funny look.

Learn: Languages, i hate being monolingual. fix my German, or teach me something Slavic or Baltic.

Share: Im a bit of a history nerd, i have read a lot about European history so lets argue!

Countries I’ve Visited

Germany, Russian Federation, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Ireland, United Kingdom
