About Me

CURRENT MISSION

When traveling, my mission is to meet locals and get a feel for what it's like to live in the places I travel. I don't like tourist attractions at all. I'd rather grab a pint with a stranger than take pictures in front historical buildings.
When I'm not traveling, my mission is to give to my community and support local artists.

ABOUT ME

I'm an Oakland native, studied at UC Berkeley, and I absolutely love living here. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions watching the Bay change over the last 10 years, but I'm still in love with my home. I'm laid back, giving, and silly. I enjoy good conversation, and I spend a lot of my time cultivating community and focusing on self growth. My favorite community is DPW, which is the crew that spends 2 months in the Black Rock Desert building the city for Burning Man. I'm not much of a burner, but I love the hard work and tough environment that comes with working the event. If anyone is ever interested in getting involved, hit me up.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is short, so live as much as you can, connect with people, and stay present. In any situation, good or bad, there's always something to learn.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been out of the CS scene, but I'll begin to host again in 2019. I got an awesome apartment centrally located in The Bay, near major public transit lines. Also, I love to give people a tour of the place, if anyone wants to know what the locals do.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far it's been good! People are fantastic and it's been a great way to experience new cultures and meet interesting folk.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a huge fan of indie, folk, blues, ska, alternative hip-hop, ambient, classical, etc.
But what really gets me excited is when friends grab instruments and start jamming together. I love the improvisation and live music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I work for the Department of Public Works for Burning Man, where I spend 2 months on Playa building the city and then tearing it down.

Teach, Learn, Share

I currently teach programming at UC Berkeley, so I'd be happy to share my knowledge if folks want to learn a bit about how the internet works.
Also, I love psychology and I spend a lot of my free time learning about it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Excellent philosophical conversations, recipes, home cooked meals. :)
