About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Braking from the norm

ABOUT ME

Well, I'm sort of a lost soul, actually. I've always wanted to see the world, but have never found the time to do enough of that. I would like to start changing that. I'm looking to perhaps find a new path in life, and I would like to meet new people, have new experiences and figure that out. I would love to network with people who are making a difference in the world. I'm particularly interested in environmental causes. But what will really matter to whoever is reading this is that I'm just a nice easy-going guy who is easy to get along with and who enjoys good company. :) (I should confess to being a bit reserved, though)

PHILOSOPHY

Simplicity. Don't want for much and try to do good.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Still figuring that out.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Far too little so far. One delightful afternoon in Sao Paulo before returning to my grind away life as a researcher, and exchanged a few messages. But now I'm a free man since my company went out of business, so I look forward to changing this. :)

Interests

Hiking, camping and doing just about anything outdoors.
I also like being around town to absorb the culture and catch the sights, museums or whatever. Really, I like doing just about anything with nice people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Mostly I read nonfiction. World affairs and current events, and science and technology. But on occasions I will read a good novel. I like Milan Kundera's books.

I like all kinds of movies, but I tire of over the top Hollywood action sometimes. I particularly like SciFi and suspense thrillers, and I actually like chic flicks.

Though I certainly like music, and people will often hear me whistling tunes at work, I don't really keep up with the scene. I enjoy all kinds of genres. Classic Rock and Classical are what I listen to most, but blues, jazz, regae, ragtime...it's all good. Not too into the rap, though...and I don't care for much vulgarity in the lyrics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Island hopping by kayak and beach camping in the British/US Virgin Islands was an awesome adventure. I've had a lot of fun caving back in Missouri. And one word...Brazil. The people and country are amazing, and Iguacu Falls will knock your socks off.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you chemistry, but then you would probably run away. lol.

Countries I’ve Visited
