About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to become a fashion/beauty photographer in LA. Crazy, I know. But, knowing how life is, we'll see what happens. Other then that I try and live life as much as possible, try new things, meet new people, learn new skills.

PHILOSOPHY

Speakin' in general, I 'ave tried 'em all,
The 'appy roads that take you o'er the world.
Speakin' in general, I 'ave found them good
For such as cannot use one bed too long,
But must get 'ence, the same as I 'ave done,
An' go observin' matters till they die.

What do it matter where or 'ow we die,
So long as we've our 'ealth to watch it all --
The different ways that different things are done,
An' men an' women lovin' in this world --
Takin' our chances as they come along,
An' when they ain't, pretendin' they are good?

In cash or credit -- no, it aren't no good;
You 'ave to 'ave the 'abit or you'd die,
Unless you lived your life but one day long,
Nor didn't prophesy nor fret at all,
But drew your tucker some'ow from the world,
An' never bothered what you might ha' done.

But, Gawd, what things are they I 'aven't done?
I've turned my 'and to most, an' turned it good,
In various situations round the world --
For 'im that doth not work must surely die;
But that's no reason man should labour all
'Is life on one same shift; life's none so long.

Therefore, from job to job I've moved along.
Pay couldn't 'old me when my time was done,
For something in my 'ead upset me all,
Till I 'ad dropped whatever 'twas for good,
An', out at sea, be'eld the dock-lights die,
An' met my mate -- the wind that tramps the world!

It's like a book, I think, this bloomin' world,
Which you can read and care for just so long,
But presently you feel that you will die
Unless you get the page you're readin' done,
An' turn another -- likely not so good;
But what you're after is to turn 'em all.

Gawd bless this world! Whatever she 'ath done --
Excep' when awful long -- I've found it good.
So write, before I die, "'E liked it all!"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined CS way back when I lived in Kyoto, Japan to meet and help people who were coming through the city and wanted to have an awesome experience. I dropped off the map for a while when I moved back to the US, but now that I'm traveling west across the country I figured I should rekindle my profile so I can take the opportunity to meet some more awesome people.

Interests

Photography, backpacking, movies, reading, beer, exploring, traveling, art, fashion, design, life, oh, and I can't forget coffee.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies a lot but some off the top of my head would be Fight Club, Brotherhood of the Wolf, Predator, Alien, Stardust, Matrix, Odd Thomas, Melancholia...

Recently I've watched though Californication (in prep for LA, not realistic, but still fun), Orange is the New Black (season 3 was okay), Archer is a solid lunch-time watch when I'm home, on occasion I resort to anime, people have recommended I watch Sense8, but I haven't had the time since my move, Peeky Blinders was pretty good, House of Cards had its ups and downs...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Probably the most amazing thing I've done, I think, was a 6 months backpacking trip around Southeast Asia before I moved back from living in Japan. I spent a month and half hitchhiking around Japan, then on to Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, and finally Cambodia. I would have continued on to Nepal, but I got sick and ended up having to get surgery in a small town in Thailand, which kind of drained me. That in itself was a pretty crazy story.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you want to learn about photography or retouching I got a few things I can pass on. And by a few, I mean a lot :) I've done my fair share of world traveling and give some tips on places and adventuring. I've got a guitar in my car I've never had a chance to figure out, so I'm always looking for someone to teach me a few chords, after I tune it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Having to become a business person in my own right and live directly off the work I do I've picked up some productivity tricks, not to mention a deep and wide knowledge of marketing, and of my own craft which is photography.

I also have a love of good conversation, debate (not argument), and while I don't pay attention to news (on purpose) I can still talk using historic examples re current events. As for travel stories, I have tons and tons of those I'd love to share if you're interested.

Countries I’ve Visited

Cambodia, Canada, China, Costa Rica, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand
