About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy what life has to offer

ABOUT ME

We quit our jobs and sold out stuff to spend the year learning from the world.

Can't wait to see what life serves us!

Kristine
Loud and colorful.

I love living in new places and working my way over that cultural learning curve. I'm super determined and will accomplish what I put my mind to, although I usually realize it's not what I expected in the end.

Vinnie
Easy going, laid back, and trusting.

Vinnie fits in anywhere and immediately makes friends. He smiles a lot and is generally an all-around great guy.

Together
We met in NYC in 2003 when Kristine was in graduate school and Vinnie was working a corporate job at IBM. We moved to San Francisco a few years later, and are still trying to figure out which coast has the most :)

We love to have fun, and can be a little crazy.

Interests

:Kristine
Triathlons (swim, bike, run), meeting new people, eating amazing food, DIY projects gone right, wine, sewing, beautiful design, and learning to cook new cuisines.

I also like volunteering and run a free tech-training program for teachers :)

:Vinnie
Started the Silicon Valley New Tech meetup, www.svnewtech.com, co-founded www.lefora.com, and loves talking tech, entrepreneurship, and web startups.

Together
Most recently, we were living in San Francisco, in the latin quarter - the Mission District. We're already missing the burritos.

In SF, we were usually found in Dolores Park, El Farilitio, Philz Coffee, or some bar drinking a beer.

Music, Movies, and Books

Kristine
Books: Yes! I love, love, love Margaret Atwood, Haruki Murakami, and Tom Robbins. My goal this trip is to pick up/give away books. So I won't be picky! I also love my google feed reader.

According to Netflix I enjoy: Cerebral Comedies, Critically-acclaimed Dark Foreign Movies and Documentaries. I guess this is fairly accurate, their recommendation engine is amazing! And Arrested Development tops both of our lists.

Music: I have admittedly terrible taste in music. I love working out to Brittney Spears, Beyonce and Rihanna.

When I'm not working out, I listen to Edith Piaf, The Gotan Project and NPR.

Vinnie digs indie rock and anything that makes him laugh, from Adult Swim on the cartoon network, to the Daily Show, to Wes Anderson flicks.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kristine
I worked for Archbishop Tutu and attended his wedding in South Africa. That was pretty amazing!

Vinnie
I took the helm of an open cockpit biplane!

Together on our current trip:
* Ridden on some of the world's most dangerous roads 4,014km high to to tallest city in the world in Litang, China.
* Rocked out to Beijing underground hip hop
* Scooted around the island of Taiwan
* Took a 10 day vow of silence at a buddhist monetary, meditating 11 hours per day!
