ABOUT ME

Hi my name is Matt Bird, just another soul marching to the beat of their own drum.
I am very left/right brained in my logic and creativity.
I'm an adventurer, a technomad, a fictional character of the real world.
I don't see the point of being confined to life within the cubicle of an office
or anchored to life by a loan and a house.
Set to see the world from one perspective,
one vantage.

I am half Kiwi/half Canadian and traits of both shine strongly through in me,
but I don't seem to belong in either.
I am a child of the world.

What my goals are in life is to show that life is to be lived,
and to live it well
and see what someone like me can do to promote positive change in saving the world.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that we focus too negatively on difference.
The differences in religion, politics and culture instead of the similarities.
Of the thought that they are not like me and that's not right.
That there are the few who wish to control the many.
I believe we don't focus on the problems of the Earth itself enough.
That we thrive by leeching the life off it.
Like mold on a sandwich.

We can be better.

That and we are all PCs in the game of life.
The NPCs are digital.
For now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A few years ago I joined the CouchSurfing Project to try easy travel and hosting travelers from different walks on an experience.
I wound up using it once and hosting a half to a dozen or so, and it was a positive experience.
I aim to start traveling various ways of land, air and sea CouchSurfing, WWOOFinf and somewhere in between.
While working on projects from my laptop(when I have one again) and trying to save the world!
Life is an adventure and should be lived like one!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well, I still haven't used CouchSurfing to couch surf that much yet but I have crashed on numerous couches and floors. I remember when I was younger and living with my parents, I'd always try to sleep on the couch but I'd always get yelled at. I even got a fold out bed for a while, but that got taken away because I kept not unfolding it and sleeping on the couch, haha!

Interests

Everything interests me!
But some things interest me more then others.

I love the pursuit of knowledge.
I love other cultures, lifestyles and experiences.
I'm quite the sucker for alternative pop culture
and the darker side of life like horror, goth or the SteamPunk revolution.

I love puzzles and I love the arts.
I love to play and create in whatever medium I can get my hands on,
though I probably spend too much time on the computer ;)

From throwing rocks at a stick to AR Gaming and everything in between,
I quite enjoy anything and everything that is a game.
Hell, my life is a game.

My music taste is well ranged,
but it leans more towards shades of rock, metal, punk and soundtracks.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In Thailand a couple of years ago with my father I went down in a Yellow Submarine.

And slept on a tiger.

But honestly, I'm never bored. Life is an amazing thing!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always happy to learn anything that is willing to be taught.
I can teach or share a number of things from vegetarian food to firedancing.
But the better things learned from me aren't necessarily the ones taught.
I'm always happy to help people with problems and give unbiased advice.
