About Me

I was born in Israel to Argentine parents, grew up will I was 10. Then I moved to New York with my family, where we lived for 6 years. At 16, I moved back to Israel where I finished highschool. At age 22 I left Israel and started travelling around the world. I spent a few months in central Italy (Emilia Romagna) which I enjoyed very much, then France, then Catalunya where I stayed for a year. After that I travelled to Uruguay and Argentina, fell in love with the place and people, and ended up staying in Buenos Aires for a few years, where I studied music and met my wife, I now live in a quiet village outside of the city with my wife and 2 kids who go to a Waldorf School.

Throughout my life I've been interested in many things such as languages, history and anthropology, arts such as music, film and theater.... I started playing guitar at age 15, and never stopped my relationship with music. I went on to playing other instruments but around age 25, in Argentina, a friend of mine lent me his accordion and a new love was born, I started playing this wonderful instrument, teaching, playing gigs, composing and more. Music has been my way of life and my job since I was about 22. For the past almost 10 years I have been working less as a preforming musician and more as an accordion technician and salesman. I restore and tune old and new accordions and am very lucky to be in touch with many musicians from all over the world.

Apart from that, I still love traveling and my place of choice is always the mountains, where I go for camping and trekking with my family. My love to nature also expresses itself through growing vegetables at my home, recycling and looking for alternative and more sustainable lifestyles.

I really enjoy getting to know new people and cultures and always learn a lot from these encounters.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard about Couchsurfing a long time ago, and finally want to give it a try as I am going to Italy soon on a very special trip which is to visit Castelfidardo, home of the accordion. This trip has to do both with my passion for art and music and also my job as an accordion repair-man. I've also had people stay over my different homes although not as part of couchsurfing. It is a great experience, although I haven't done it much since I have kids.

Music, Movies, and Books

There is just sooooo much.... I love music from classical music to jazz to ethnic and folk music from around the world, to funk and rock and vocal music. I am not a big reader but I have read a few books in several different languages which where very important such as "Las Venas Abiertas de America Latina" by Eduardo Galeano from Uruguay. Movies... also too many to name just a few, but the few that pop to my head right now are Waltz with Bashir, 3 Iron, and Simple Story...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am part of a community at the village where I live, a group of about 20 families. We literally built a Waldorf school for our children with our own hands in a beautiful place surrounded by nature. The school is made by us and belongs to us as a Civil Association without lucrative means. Everything in this project is done as a community where we listen to each other and work together to improve our kids' education day by day.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have tought music for years, I've also tought languages (specially spanish), and I really enjoy teaching the things that I am passionate about, such as music. At the moment I really enjoy teaching what I do, which is fix, restore and tune accordions.
