ABOUT ME

well.. some about us:

both of us were born & raised in a "kibbutz" (which is a small community, originally based on communist values - but very different from communism. very common in Israel. if you like i would be happy to try and explain...) in the north of Israel. not the same one of course.

(uri) - as a kid i lived 3 years in Paris, France & traveled Europe with my family. Yaara lived most of her life in Israel.
we have known each other since high school, but became a couple only at the last year of school - and we are together since then (a long long time).

we are parents to our beloved son Daniel (7), and our dear son Shai (3.5) and we realize as time passes, that most of the cliches about parenthood are true...

(Uri) I'm a graphic designer, and i do some projects here and there. Now i made a career shift in my life and i'm an English teacher and Special Education teacher. I Play the guitar a little, and i love good books. I try my luck recently in Roller Skating and ice skating, and i love skiing.
we love cats also...

Yaara is a manager. An important one. She does most of the "adult work" in the family, so probably you'll see more of me and less of her during your stay. She doesn't like watermelon (weird is it?) & spicy food, and i love them both. despite these differences - we tolerate, respect & complete each other.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now we do not host.

** CS for us is to know our guests. it is not about hosting, it is about knowing, connecting, learning through hosting or meeting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

the beginning for us was participating in some of the CS events in Prague 08.

We lived in Budapest for 4 years. We used to meet with the Budapest CS community as much as we could, but this is almost impossible with a kid. we met a lot of good people in Budapest, and made some local good friends.
hosted great people so far, and met very interesting ones along the way....
Thank god it's a long way before us...

we are not a specific writer/director fans. we like what we like.

Yaara will watch usually romantic/drama movies and I (uri) like movies that rock your world a little (or a lot) - either by an interesting idea and plot, or by just being well made (preferably both).
surprisingly Yaara will watch "Lord Of The Rings" and The first "Matrix" (i suspect it is only as a respect for me, but i don't ask)

books - (uri) - Ender's Game, 100 years of solitude, A Song of Ice and Fire, NO LOGO, The shock doctrine, God Knows, the god delusion, Milan Kundera.......
(yaara) - harlan coben, The Kite Runner......

music - i guess i can hear everything from classical music to rap and all that in between and on the side...i can't stand heavy metal, and anything that moves me goes. Yaara is more picky than i am.

in the last 3 year we hear a lot of Israeli music, which in our opinion, becomes better and better.
we will be glad to share it with anyone who wants to.

we would love to know and learn about new music any time - so bring your own and share with as much as you can.

just one thing? no way...

i fell in love.
have been loved back.
had 2 kids.
fall in love with them everyday since (really).
teaching kindergarten kids with the help of animals.
sky diving.
free hugs.
almost drowned (and panicking during that).
drove a tank.
saw pieces of glacier fall into the sea with my wife to be.
helped someone in need.

...and i did a perfect turn on my roller skate not that long ago! stopping is still a challenge though...

let's meet, talk, smile, drink - something will come up I'm sure.

Yaara can try & teach you how to lift your eyebrow without even knowing you do that (kind of a Catch 22).

we like to taste dishes from other cultures (Uri at least), so if you want to cook something for us (not too spicy and without any watermelon) - you are always welcome. of course we will make you some of ours too. we love to cook - especially for others.
