About Me

Hi, I’m Utkarsh. I split my time between Amsterdam and India, working on AI and building things that (hopefully) matter. Background in trading, now deep into AI infrastructure. So if you’re into conversations that go from “how markets work” to “what the future of intelligence looks like,” we’ll get along.

Outside work, life is a mix of tennis, chess, and figuring out how to make learning actually fun (I spend a surprising amount of time thinking about education). I’ve also been attempting to learn Dutch for… longer than I’d like to admit.

I enjoy hosting people who are curious, independent, and have their own stories. I’m not running a hostel, I prefer a smaller number of meaningful interactions over back-to-back hosting. If you’re the kind of person who can switch between deep conversations and just enjoying a relaxed evening, you’ll fit right in.

My place is clean, calm, and well-located! Good base to explore the city, and equally good if you just want a quiet reset for a couple of days. I live with two other people, another Indian guy and a Polish girl. We’re a very social and active bunch.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me it’s about meeting people you would never normally cross paths with. Some of the best travel experiences come from simple conversations and shared moments.

Interests

AI, startups, education, psychology, geopolitics, tennis, chess, long walks, good coffee, and conversations that go a bit deeper than usual.
And singing. I sing all the time.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music taste depends on the moment. I like deep house when I’m out or cycling, and old Bollywood when I want something familiar.

Movies that stay with me are usually thoughtful ones, often character driven stories. Anything that makes you think a bit after.

Books are a mix of philosophy, psychology, and systems thinking. Lately I’ve been exploring ideas around decision making and how people see the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve had the chance to work on projects that reached over a million people, which still feels a bit surreal. At the same time, I’ve moved across countries and careers, and I think that shift has shaped me more than any single achievement.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share how I approach decisions and risk.

I like learning about how different people live, what they are excited about, and the small things that make their lives interesting. Travel stories are always welcome.
