About Me

My name is Linh ( pronounce like Lyn in English).
Currently I work as a Communication director within financial industry.
I came to know CS in 2014 when I made my first trip travelling as a backpacker to India.
Being a backpacker was one of the most amazing things I have ever done in my life and that made me the person I am today.
I keep being active and hosting people as a way to pay back for what I received in the past.

Some info about me below:
- I happened to survive an avalanche that killed at least 45 people on Annapurna Mountain.
- In 2014, I started an organization called Volunteer House Vietnam (VHV) which provides free accommodation for travelers in Vietnam in exchange for free English lessons for children. We opened more than 10 English classes in HCM and Hanoi. We also ran some charity programs and collected $35,000 USD to help Nepalese people who suffered from the earthquake 2015 and built 3 schools for children in Vietnam. Due to my busy schedule, the organization is no longer active.
- In 2018, I won a full scholarship at Duke University and managed to finish my Master's Program in International Development.
- I also have co-authored ten books of short stories for teenagers. My first novel, “Over The Hill" was published in 2015.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet and make friends with others

Interests

Traveling, writing, cooking, surfing, swimming, outdoor activities....

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: have no special taste, mostly listening to instrumental music.

Book: barely being patient enough to sit down and read a book though I think that someone looks cute with a book.

Movies: Prison Break, The Cure, My sister's keeper, Forrest Gump, The Secret Life of Mitty Water, Click; ...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. I have lived alone since I was 7 years old.

2. Being a survivor in an avalanche in Nepal which killed at least 65 people out of a total 168 trekkers on the Annapurna mountain.

3. Writing a letter which criticized the Minister of Education in Vietnam and advocated for a better English program in my country. The letter caught media attention and went viral after that.

Teach, Learn, Share

Pretty much about Vietnamese culture, Vietnamese cuisine.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Food & beers & stories.
Notice: It might be rude but I have to say honestly that many hosts use CS as a website for dating instead of helping travelers. That sucks. Therefore, if you are looking for someone to sleep with, keep in mind that I am definitely not for you.

Countries I’ve Visited

Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Tanzania, Thailand, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States, Viet Nam
