About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To explore the world and immerse myself in other cultures.
ABOUT ME
I'm a 43 year old software developer who has pretty much been a full-time traveler since 2008.
I love meeting new people and learning about new cultures. I prefer budget and local style travel to all-inclusive resorts and I adore anything by water.
I have a variety of interests spanning from reading (I'm a nerd) to sky diving (I'm an adrenaline junkie). My perfect weekend would be hiking into a lake and going sailing and then camping on the beach with rock climbing the next day. Basically, anything that you can tack an -ing onto the end of I'm willing to try it.
PHILOSOPHY
Not all who wander are lost - some just want to explore. If more people would travel and really get to know people from other cultures they would realize that the differences really aren't that huge and there would probably be far fewer problems in the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I meet couch surfers while traveling and host when I can. Even when not surfing, I like to try to connect with the local couchsurfers when I get to a city as it's a great way to get to know people.
NOTE: Cut and paste requests will be denied. They're really easy to spot. So, if you want a chance of being hosted, make sure to mention something we have in common or something that caught your eye about my profile. I can only host one person at a time so if you're a couple, sorry but good luck.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couchsurfed several times and had great experiences and have formed several lasting friendships. I've also met many other couchsurfers during my travels and they've all been great people. I've not been able to host as much as I would have liked but what I have done has been great.
I couchsurf because I want to connect with people. I want to spend time with my host/surfer and get to know them and enjoy them. To me, that's the beauty of the project. It's not just a free place to sleep.
Interests
Just about anything with an -ing. Reading, writing, traveling, sailing, hiking, camping, rock climbing, walking, music, movies and almost anything else. I also love to cook so if you'd be willing to show me a meal from your culture I'd love it! I generally prefer not to party hard every night, but I do enjoy a good night out, especially if it involves live music and/or good conversation.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love history, particularly survivor stories from the Holocaust, Vietnam War, the Killing Fields and other horrors (don't ask me why!). I also enjoy sci-fi/fantasy and relaxing chick lit. For movies I prefer comedies/romance and some drama. Not a fan of horror movies. Music is great and I like just about anything...if you visit, please share your favorite music with me!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In the summer of 2013 I sailed from the Caribbean to the Azores. It was over 3000 miles and included several days adrift on a broken boat and almost needing to be rescued by the Portuguese Coast Guard.
Teach, Learn, Share
I also love to talk about ideas that people could turn into money-makers to help support their travel habits. Since I do web development I like to help people come up with potential money-making site ideas.
