About Me

I retired from teaching high school English in June, 2016. Freedom 55 ❤️! I sold my home and gave away most of my belongings so I could see the world. At the moment, I am a vagabond with no fixed address and thus unable to host.
After retirement, my sister and I spent 6 months travelling by bus throughout Mexico, and all of Central America. Then we flew to Colombia and explored that beautiful country, ending our journey in Cuba. It was life changing!
May-August 2018 I traveled solo through 18 countries in Europe, staying in hostels and B&B’s.
Currently traveling with my son through Egypt, Morocco, Spain and Portugal. Had ONE Couchsurfing experience in Casablanca and it was fabulous!! Son is going back to work, but I’m continuing my journey and hoping to couchsurf a good part of it.
Travel has introduced me to many beautiful souls and has enriched my life immeasurably.
I have three grown children who are very supportive of their mom's new lifestyle.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Staying with locals and really learning about new cultures is the most important reason. Of course, finding out the must sees and the best spots to dine and explore according to hosts is such a bonus 😎

Music, Movies, and Books

Very eclectic in my musical tastes, but old rock and roll is still my fave. I am a movie buff and love dramas, comedies and documentaries. Books run the gamut from mysteries to historical fiction, 'beach' reads and political non-fiction. Margaret Atwood remains my favourite author.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At the age of 56 I zip lined for the first time in the cloud forest in Costa Rica.
