About Me

I’m a novelist who writes about utopias and dystopias — worlds where humanity gets it beautifully right, and worlds where we get it heartbreakingly wrong.
California boy, raised with the sugar of Hawaii in my veins, I now own a little house in Otaru, Japan, and I’m chasing the full Japanese expat dream with wide-open arms and an even wider heart.
I’m a creative to my core — words, music, art, ideas — it all flows through me like second nature.
What I love most? Gathering with interesting, passionate people. Long dinners that turn into laughter-filled nights, deep conversations over coffee, spontaneous drinks that spark new dreams. Especially with fellow creatives — painters, writers, musicians, thinkers. There’s something magical about two creative souls connecting in real life.
If you have fire in your spirit, stories in your eyes, and a hunger for beauty, connection, and a little adventure… I’d really love to meet you.
Whether it’s sharing a quiet moment in Otaru, exploring a new city together, or just exchanging ideas across the world — my door (and my inbox) is open.

I like the writing of Basho, Orhan Pamuk, Kim Stanley Robinson, and many others. I generally like my own writing too - more than 20 books written at this point.

Teach, Learn, Share

Life is filled with suffering. You already know that. More you know it’s not just you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have some good stories and a warm personality. I've almost always arrived at a host's place and then left a friend's place. I generally believe it needs to be a two way street. I surf couches to meet new friends not to get a free bed.
