About Me

Well, let's see if I can describe myself.

I grew up in Mysore, a small city (population of 1 million ;-) ) in south India.
Like most kids in India, I spent a lot of time outdoors : Cricket (some consider it as a religion because of its popularity and the extent of people's involvement in the sport), Badminton, Volleyball, Throwball, Handball, Lagori, Kho Kho, Cycling, Trekking, Bird Watching and a lot more...Oh and I follow Tennis quite a bit,big fan of Roger Federer, would love to watch him live before he retires. I tried my hand at learning to play the Keyboard when I was around ten but dropped it after a few weeks. Same goes with drawing and painting, I'm no good.

During Engineering, I started learning French at Alliance Française de Bangalore Mysore Chapter. Then, France happened in 2012 when I came as an English Language Assistant. Spent 7 months in Bourgoin-Jallieu (Rhône-Alpes).
It happened again in 2014, this time as a student in Montpellier. Being a vegetarian before and a vegan now, I've slowly become a self-certified cook. I've had the opportunity to travel in France and in Europe during holidays...

I love playing with kids and animals. By their innocence and honesty, they bring a smile on my face. I/we don't have any pets but throughout, we have had cows, dogs and to a lesser extent cats calling on us regularly in Mysore.

Voilà voilà, now you know me better.
ABOUT ME

I've been living in Bordeaux since 2018.

I'm peace loving and patient. I enjoy spending time in nature. I'm always up for cycling, trekking, spending time in nature... I love travelling to new places to experience new cultures, meet new people, get to know their interests in life. I don't smoke. I've been vegetarian all my life and a vegan since 2014.

PHILOSOPHY

We are all one. What we give is what we get. I take full responsibility in everything that happens in my life. I try my best to not blame, criticise... Trying to lead a life of service, a life of humility, a life in which you wish for others what you wish for yourself, a life in which you do not wish by your cleverness or smartness to take what belongs to the other.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted and surfed a couple of times. I wish to do both (hosting and surfing) more often and play a more active role in this wonderful initiative. As I've been on the move every 5-6 months for the last two years, I haven't hosted much ( though I've had friends visit me over a long weekend).

Interests

Love to walk and jog around lakes, in parks. Trekking. Enjoy playing with my camera, trying to take the best possible photograph in each shot. Love listening to different accents from different parts of the world, bird watching, playing shuttle badminton. Avid follower of Cricket and Tennis.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC:
I love listening to:
Harry Belafonte, Simon and Garfunkel, Jim Reeves, Sound of music, Joe Dassin, Yanni, old indian songs (goes on all day at home in Mysore, Dad tunes in to Radio Ceylon every morning..Mohd Rafi, Geeta Dutt, Lata Mangeshkar, O P Nayyar, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosle...), Irish Music- Sharon Shannon, Brendan Power.
I love listening to new stuff, I get more influenced when I visit a new place. I end up exploring their music on a TuneIn Radio app even after returning.

MOVIES:
I don't watch them so often, I don't go crazy if a new one is released. I realise that I've missed a lot of them over the years. You'd probably be surprised if I said I didn't watch such and such a film, which most people would've watched.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Had the opportunity to watch Roland Garros 2015 finals live. Cycled in the Himalayas, spent an awesome evening on a bateau on river Seine, treks around Lugano, Lauterbrunnen, Chefchaouen, Kodachadri, Vishakapatnam, Eze, Nebelhorn, Preikestolen, Seven Hanging Valleys Trail in Algarve, PR3 Trilho dos Currais Gerês, and many more. In July 2018, I did my first monsoon trek in Coorg (a peak called Tadiandamol) and had my first experience with leeches.
I also wwoofed in Ticino Switzerland for a month.
