About Me

Mostly harmless.
Freelance translator for 10 years, remote daddy, hiker, traveler, dancer, runner, reader.
Moved from my hometown Tallinn to Tbilisi, just to get closer to the mountains, to climb and hike. Probably will move on some day (not too soon, it is damn cool place).
Talkative (to those from somewhere up North), threateningly silent (for those from the rest of the world). Sense of humor - detected. Social skills - yeah, the guy sitting in the corner, it's probably me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To find new friends, to smooth my way during further travels. My current 1-room apartment in Tbilisi is not exactly a best place for receiving guests (unless you are OK with sleeping on the floor) but even that could change one day.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: my taste is an eclectic mess from Nordic metal to fusion jazz. Status Quo, ELO, AC/DC, Gary Moore, B.B. King, Robert Cray, The Pogues. Tom Waits. But also Grover Washington, Chet Baker, and Louis Armstrong. And Leonard Cohen. And Paul Simon. And, for gods sake, Sinatra and Nat King Cole if the mood is right. And Vladimir Vysotskij, Georges Brassens. But no hiphop and rap, with rare exceptions.
Books: too many to count. Bulgakov. Tolkien. Classic scifi - Bradbury, Asimov, Simak, Clarke. Aldridge, Durrell, London. I read a lot of (or even mostly) non-fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Participated in a revolution.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know something about everything, but nothing very deeply. Smartass.

More specifically I know quite a bit about Georgian outdoors. Need hiking advice, climbing spots, have questions about logistics, weather, accessibility? Ask me, I know, can find the info or can direct you to right people. Or I might come out hiking with you myself. Been there, done that.

Countries I’ve Visited

Armenia, Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Egypt, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russian Federation, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Tajikistan, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, Uzbekistan

Countries I’ve Lived In
