About Me

I'm 32 years old. I have been living on my own in a small flat downtown Udine since my company decided to hire me indefinetely which happened around one year ago. I've been back to Italy after three years spent working and living in Istanbul, Turkey, which I definetely fell in love with! :) My days go by quite quickly; working til 6.30 p.m., going to swimming classes, rushing to the gym, having a chat w/h friends and tasting with them the wonderful white wines our region produce. Oh I forgot cleaning my flat, of course! You know, the things you usually do in your everyday life....

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I love travelling to destinations that generally speaking are outside the regular touristic circuits so I would like to have as many connections as possible with local people who can help me to have a first-hand experience; I love to mix with locals, eating their food, sharing some experiences with them, making new friends...
Another reason is that I usually travel on my own when I decide for one those unusual destinations as none of my friends are willing to take their backpacks and leave for adventure :(
Last but not least, I usually travel on a budget so it's good to save money on accomodation if , in return, you can spend it to see more places and, of course, I would vbe happy to reciprocate hosting some people at my flat!

Interests

Travelling with my backpack;
Swimming, cycling as I love doing sports;
Photography ( I'm moving my first steps into travel reportage and I love black and white protraits);
Middle East, Turkey and Persia: I love everything of these areas: people, language, territory, food, religion, architecture and politics. One day I'd like to be able to say I touched ground on all the countries laying on those areas;
Love cactus and working to increase my "collection"!

Music, Movies, and Books

Hip-hop not only the one coming from the states. I do love the underground hip-hop coming form the Arab Countries and North Africa.

My favorite movies are the kind of movies people are not likely to watch and that I usally watch alone at the movies (literally!): they are shooted by minor directors and talk about war stories in the middle east or everyday life in countries many people are even not aware of...

When it comes to books, I can say I love Turkish writers, my favourite is Pamuk and I love slavic literature, especially the books from Ivo Andric and other contemporary authors dealing with the Balkan conflict that broke out in that area in the 90s. I am particularly interested in the ones dealing with Sarajevo, city I fell in love with!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, I can say that I travelled to Istanbul when I was a teenager and followed my dreams in every possible way: by train, by bus, by ferry, by car, by plane but...not by byke which is something I'd like to do when I find some guys willing to make this experience with me.
Besides, One of my sweetest memories of that time is related to a trip that I did on my own to Alep by dolmus (a shared car) and stayed at a teacher's house in downtown Alep. I met so many people on that journey. I wish I spoke some Arabic to understand what they were telling each other....

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to go back to university and get my second degree but this time I'd opt for political science and specialize in the middle east politics.

I'd like to act as a volunteer, teaching foreign languages to street children or anything else...

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a small flat, so I can host max. 2 people. My guests can sleep in my double bed while I will sleep on the sofa. Guests can cook their breakfast but not their main meals. So they have to get their lunch or dinner outside but can eat it at my home.

My flat is tiny and cosy. Very young in its style. When I feel like doing it or when my pockets allow it I add something to its furniture so it's and endless work in progress....

As far as its position is concerned, it's located downtown Udine. So in a 5 minutes' walk you will find yourself in the heart of the city.

If i'm free I can tour you around Udine and I can lend you my bike if i'm not using it that day so it's another way to move across the city and see it in a differrent way!

Sorry, no pick ups at train station, airport, bus station, whatever.... and do not leave the keys of my flat to my guests... I do not host solo male travelers.
