I am travelling solo across Europe by bicycle!

My voyage starts in November in Portugal, and I am headed for Eastern Europe. My route is not at all concrete, but I would like to spend time in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Croatia, and Bosnia, to name a few.
I have previously gone on many shorter tours, a week here or there, but I've also done a coast-to-coast ride across the United States (instagram.com/biking_across_europe)

My trek across the US is the main inspiration for my European bike tour.
I am travelling with camping gear, and will be sleeping outdoors every night by choice, except for when I am lucky enough to find a host! I have found this kind of travel is the most fulfilling way for me to experience new places, connect with people, and generally just better myself. The kindness of strangers that I have encountered, on CS or otherwise, is consistently astounding.

I love bikes of course, but my other passion is music. I have been playing instruments most of my life, and jump at an opportunity to pick up a guitar or sit down at the piano to entertain! I play mostly jazz, blues, and soul, but can improvise freely with whatever music is going on. I also play bass and percussion, and can be coerced into singing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet some great people, of course! To get out of the rain. To do your dishes, take out your trash, and put beer in your fridge. To sleep on a variety of floors. To get advice on which road to take out of town in the morning. To hear your stories and to exchange my own.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I rode my bicycle from Boston to San Diego over the course of 17 weeks. Mybest friend, Arlo, and I rode together, about 4000 miles. We were totally self supported and used couchsurfing numerous times along the way! Whoa.
