About Me

I love art, science and outdoors.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to explore the United States and experience places from a viewpoint of someone who lives there, rather than jumping between hotels, restaurants and business meetings.

Interests

Computer science,
oil painting (fan of Salvador Dali),
mechanical and electrical engineering,
robotics,
illustration,
drawing comics,
graphic design,
photography,
playing and recording music (guitars, drums, synth, bass).

Love the outdoors - river kayaking and long distance roller skating is my current favorite (hiking goes without saying).

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite books - Dark Tower and many others by Stephen King, Neuromancer and Mona Lisa Overdrive by William Gibson, Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson to list a few.

Movies - most popular action/sci-fi like Back to the Future, 5th Element, Stargate and Terminator and any new movies of similar style (Elysium, Looper, Riddick).

Shows - animated comedy like Futurama, South Park and Family Guy and action series like Breaking Bad.

Music - industrial alternative metal (Celldweller is probably best example with tracks like Switchback, Scardonia, Iria, Ghosts, Waiting, etc).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recorded myself playing "Here to Stay" (KoRn) at the top of Mt. St. Helens, bringing my favorite 7-string guitar, battery powered amp and octave fuzz effect pedal.

St. Helens climb is not like Everest, but very fun! Of course this doesn't beat the band who originally wrote this song, because they recorded themselves playing it in an airplane while flying over the Atlantic, with real drum kit and amp setup.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love sharing my experience, ask me about anything I listed in my interests. I learned English after the move from Ukraine by helping people on programming forums so... it's a large part of who I am :)
