About Me

Well, well, well.

After about 10 years as an NGO worker, activist, volunteer in European youth, education and sport NGOs, it's time to take a little break. My partner and I are on a year-long World Tour, exploring food, culture, citizen activism, nature.

We do love to cook and eat good food! We are super-duper excited to share food cultures with people we meet on the road.
We love nature. If there are edible mushrooms around your place, let us know. Also beautiful hikes and mountains.
We love to discuss democracy, citizen engagement, education. It's our job after all.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to re-initiate my cook-surfing experience. Back in 2011, I was requiring my guest to share a cooking experience and write a recipe for me in my little recipes notebook.
Due to life changes, I stopped couchsurfing soon after I started this little project. I'm happy to start again now that I'm embarking for a World Tour!

We would be happy to meet locals to discover off-the-beaten track hikes and places, discover more about local food, and maybe get to know local associations and youth and democracy activists to discuss and write about their experience!

Interests

I'm a wannabe...

Chef: I do spend a lot of time cooking (even more so since I got rid of the TV), exploring cuisine from different part of the World

Photographer: I have a nice camera, I know the basic principles of photography, and I take sometimes nice, not blurry shots.

Athlete: I've been playing badminton for more than 20 years at a competitive level. I can't really live without it.

Activist: I've been active in European youth, sport and education NGOs for about 10 years. This has been my professional field and my passion for a little while now.

Writer: I have a sort of blog - www.aeuropeancitizenwordpress.com - can't say it's very focused on anything. But eh, I'm writing mostly for myself and my mum.

...and obviously traveller!

Music, Movies, and Books

Damn, that could be a long list. I'll stick to the essentials.

Music-wise, I'm a huge fan of reggae

Book wise, Orwell is my favorite writer. I'm reading more and more non-fiction books, essays on Democracy, the EU, critical thinking.

Movies, I would stick to The Big Lebowski and Spirited Away as my top two favorites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking on a volcano at 2500m in the morning and seadiving in the afternoon at l'Ile de la Réunion is a fantastic memory.

Otherwise, I'm very proud of the fact that I managed to keep my blog updated regularly for about 6 years now. Amazing, right?

Teach, Learn, Share

More than happy to share some French cuisine recipes and technics, anything about badminton, some personal development tips about your future professional moves, about how to run an NGO in Europe.

Learning, well, how NGOs are run and how democracy is protected in other countries!
And new recipes from all across the world!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Mhhh, I'm afraid I'm starting to repeat myself here: some knowledge of French cuisine and a never-fading enthusiasm for cooking!
But I'm also happy to share thoughts on activism and citizen engagement!
