About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I recently moved to London to work for a really exciting company and I want to get to know the city more while at the same time using it as a base to travel Europe and the world!

ABOUT ME

Actually it's not that easy to describe myself... I like to think I'm quite unusual, I am extremely open to meet new people and to welcome them, but I may have some difficult in opening my heart and tell my deepest feelings to someone else..I am shy in that way, but not when it's about meeting new people and being outgoing. Apart from that I am a patient and generous person who tries to do his best to make others people happy and satisfied. One of my best quality is my sincerity, which I believe in these days it's unfortunately very rare to find in people. Finally, I like being in good shape, probably because I am quite restless! I go to the gym, swim and play football, but I also love sports in general, I've tried quite a lot of stuff (from American football to volleyball) and I'm always up to try something new. I also commute to go to work by bike :)

I am very lucky because even if I'm only 26 I've already been to a lot of places and explored many different countries, but as we Italians say "l'appetito vien mangiando" (Appetite comes with eating)!

PHILOSOPHY

"È meglio amare e lasciarsi che non essersi mai incontrati"
It is better to love and leave each other, than to had never met.

Happiness is only real when shared.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would love to meet new foreign people, help them to know better Umbria and Tuscany and their hidden treasures which aren't just Florence, Pisa, Perugia and Assisi... For what concerns myself I wish I could know as many cultures, traditions, places and countries as I could, because I don't just feel Italian, but a Cosmopolitan, who has the world as his hometown.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had many occasion to host foreign people (especially because of my school), in my hometown, at my parents' my place. I gave a bed to French, Dutch, Finnish, Belgian, English and American people, Italian too of course, and I'm very proud of it because when they left they were all sad of leaving me and my family, and keeping in touch with them I always received a really satisfying feedback. With CS I tried to keep this tradition alive, and while at Uni or while leaving abroad I managed to host people from Colombia, the U.S., Brazil, and so on... At the same time, I travel on my own, to experience new cultures, live different countries and explore new places.

I couchsurfed in the USA, in Colombia, in Brazil, in Portugal and in the UK and I would like to start doing more hosting too, giving back to the community what I've already received. However London is a tough city to do this as I am renting a small room and at the moment I don't really have much to offer.

I am sure that the CS community can help anyone in need, I, for example, had a lot of help from Madeira's local community who helped me out after my unexpected lone arrival to the island due to my roommate sickness who didn't allow her to travel with me.

Interests

I love foreign cultures and social habits, I like to speak foreign languages and travel.

When I have time I am bookaholic, I can read even ten books in a week, ranging from novels to biographies, to essays and books in foreign languages.

I love cinema and to watch good movies, often in original language, I love Christopher Nolan, Tim Burton, Robert Zemeckis, Steven Spielberg and many other directors.
On the tv I just watch series, such as How I Met Your Mother, Californication, The Big Bang Theory, True Detective, Orange Is The New Black, New Girl, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Spartacus and many more..! I like to run, swim, and play football (both European and American), but also every kind of sport.
I also like to write, I wrote in my former University magazine and I like to put down my impressions and feelings on paper, when they deserves it. I also did a Creative Writing course which was challenging, but very satisfying. I studied Foreign Languages and I have a master's degree in Translation Studies. Feel free to ask if you need my help with translating something..!

Music, Movies, and Books

Rock music, comedies, adventure movies, thrillers, superheroes movies,based-on-real-events-movies and much more! :D
I read a lot of English literature, among my favourites we can find: The Grapes of Wrath, The Catcher in the Rye, The Great Gatsby, Three Men in a Boat, some 007 novels. I particularly loved "The Call of The Wild" and I have a thing for dystopian novels such as Brave New World and 1984, I am Legend, The Lord of the Files and many many others... I know all these books belong to different authors, genres, and eras, but I love words and people who can use them to express feelings and ideas.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in Rome.
Went to London many times and still feeling I haven't discovered anything of it.
Did a Vespa tour of NYC.
Drove to Key West through the Overseas Highway 1.
I worked for Disney!!!
I lived in Lisbon, Portugal.
I worked in an african restaurant.
I've landed in Madeira's airport, if you don't know it, check it out on youtube! :D
I lived in Brazil.
I visited Jericoacoara.
I have been to the Iguaçu Falls from both the Argentinian and Brazilian side.
I paraglided over the Chicamocha Canyon in Colombia.
I lived in Bogotá.
I have a MA from one of the best universities in the world, Durham.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach Italian, in fact I've already given classes for foreigners in Italy and Brazil, I can definitely help you to practice Portuguese and maybe teach you something about it and also I can give you some(thing more than just) tips about English!
I studied literatures and linguistics and I might teach a lot about phonology, semantics and morphology! :D
Also I am a trained translator and editor, so I can definitely help you to proofread that short story you always wanted to publish or give you a couple of tips on how to improve your website.
I would like to keep practicing the languages I learned and maybe start studying some new ones!
I love to cook and for this reason I can teach a lot of Italian recipes! And maybe some Brazilian and American ones I've learned during the period I've lived there!

What I Can Share with Hosts

• When I come from my country visiting you I will always bring you a small gift that speaks about my country and culture. If I am already being traveling for a while I'll try to make my stay itself a gift, trying to be a positive individual and a good friend as much as I am able to.
• I always try to take my hosts out for dinner or prepare meals (I'm Italian, you know...) for my host to thank them for having me in their home.
• I try not to be a weight in my host's life. I am an independent person and traveller and I know how much hosting people could interfere with previous plans. I am more than happy to spend a lot of time with my host to create bounds with him/her, but I also want to give everyone their personal space... But if you want to be left alone for those 15 minutes or 2 hours, don't be afraid to ask!
• Spending time with my hosts is a top priority. I am not looking for free accommodations, I am looking to learn things, appreciate a culture and a city and share knowledge, stories & experiences.
• I can bring wine or different kinds of Italian foods or any other good you could be interested in if you ask for it! ;) (but please remember, that 1976 Brunello di Montalcino you'd like could be a bit pricey in London )
• I most certainly will return the favor (host) when visiting where I live (whenever in the world it will be).
