About Me

I’m a communication researcher currently pursuing a PhD in Communication from Bowling Green State University, Ohio. Previously, I worked as a journalist with the BBC in India. Currently, I also teach journalism to undergrads at BGSU. I love to travel and have been to a bunch of countries and intend to continue this streak in the near future.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I registered on Couchsurfing in 2013 but haven’t used it since then. Right now I’m on my first backpacking and backcountry roadtrip in the Western U.S. and I intend to meet new people in this journey. Of all the stories that I’ve heard about this community from a friend, it’s inevitable that I would end up being a part of it. I also intend to open up my house for others in the community in the future.

Interests

I do travel photography with a mirror less camera using an assortment of lenses.

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m into global cinema and some of my favourite films would be Her, Parasite, Motorcycle Diaries, Persona etc.

I love music of all variants and particularly like listening to Coldplay, Gregory Alan Isakov, Agnes Obel etc.

I mostly read non-fiction and some of my favourite books would be Being Mortal by Atul Gawande, India After Gandhi by Ramachandra Guha, and some works on political philosophy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went on a month-long backpacking trip to South East Asia when I was 24. It was a very fulfilling trip. I also did a 2-month trip across the U.S. during COVID.

Teach, Learn, Share

As a journalist, I’m much interested in the worldly affairs of everyday. And foreign policy is an area where I have a great interest in. The disciplines of Philosophy, History, and Geography have a special place in my heart — mostly owing to their incredible expanse in making us understand the human condition. I’m always looking forward to learn something new everyday, one key suggestion I give my students as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share the expanse of knowledge and wisdom that I’ve gathered over years in both academic as well travel arenas. In simple words, I can hold a human conversation at several intellectual levels.

Countries I’ve Visited

Cambodia, Egypt, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, United States, Viet Nam
