I'm a traveler who is settling into working life with my fiance. I am based out of Detroit, but am currently heading to Austin, Texas to take a contract position for the time being. I have lived in Taiwan, and Australia, and traveled all over South East Asia, and parts of South America, and the United States.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people in place who can show me an authentic experience in their home town or area. In turn I hope that I can do the same for travelers who come visit my home.

Outdoor activities; hiking, rafting, surfing, climbing... I am also into many types of sports, both viewing and participating. I am a huge history and geography dork, as these are areas I studied at university.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am into many types of music, but especially blues rock (the White Stripes), reggae/ska (Sublime), and folk based rock/punk (Flogging Molly/Gogol Bordello). When it comes to movies I am into comedy, drama, historical (Last of the Mahicans is my favorite of all time), some fantasy, things that make you think, and adventure. I tend to only read non-fiction, though I am reading the Song of Ice and Fire saga. Anything that is historical, science based, political, or economics based.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a jack of all trades, and master of only a few, so I can teach a little about a lot. Geography is my strong point so I got that covered. I would like to learn more about Cartography and creating maps that are useful and creative. I would also like to improve my language skills in Chinese and Spanish.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I good sense of humor, with humble yet intelligent conversation on many topics, with an open mind to others ideas. And a good amount of culture that I have picked up along my travels, full with stories and adventures. I am also an active person, so I enjoy a walk, or a hike, or a beer and a meal.
