About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore all the ways of living sustainably

ABOUT ME

I'm game for playing, whatever it is. I'm a great example of humans as a social species, because no matter what I can do alone, I always find myself more interested in what we can do together. That's my spirit and it's lead to many close relationships with wonderful people.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to connect with the people right around me and embrace interdependence in a community. We're soooooo "connected" these days, yet our neighbors are strangers? With that said, Digital can definitely assist and ignite a local connection such as in the case of this online community. It works best as supplementary, and not primary. Live! is a supreme feeling all unto itself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live by the principle of leaving places better than I've found them. A place is the people within, and they all contribute to its success or demise. Wherever I am, I try to live and treat it as my home, with the utmost respect and stewardship. Embodying this philosophy as a traveler, can ease the tension and apprehension society has of strangers and travelers. Thus, allowing for CS as a custom to thrive.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The best was once at a friend's who was busy at work. Her roommate was a stranger to me before, but in her absence he and I shared music, played basketball and foosball together, and eventually went to catch a movie together - not to un-fitting "I Love You Man." Now, even though they are no longer roommates, whenever I visit he and I connect as much as her and I. Although I'm pretty self-sufficient as a traveler, nothing beats the surprise of a new close friend.

Interests

Playing music even if it's just making beats with our body parts clapping and stomping and sounds with our voices, any kind of music-making is ALWAYS fun.
Dancing - again there's no standard of what consists, it's all great.
Playing games.
Hiking.

How to soften the coming blow of our global economy operating outside of its means.

Local food and culture - wherever I am.

Honest discussion. No bullshitting.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While hiking for a few days in Harriman State Park outside of NYC, this black snake triumphantly entered our camp. S/he? was not at all deterred by the presence of 4 adult human males, nor instigated, and made its way directly through us to investigate our camp. Sure enough it wasn't our camp, but definitely on the lookout for something. We just watched this snake, up close and personal, right next to it!, explore for at least 30min at which point, we decided to leave it! Turns out it was right in the middle of black snake mating season, so we were definitely the last thing on its radar. S/he was on a hunt, and had no time for frivolous fears of humans, just slide on by.
