About Me

To be totally honest I always hated to talk about myself, when I'm convinced to do that. How can one describe herself in just a few sentences...?
But I'll try. :)

Have you heard that sentence: "People who don't know me think I'm quite - and people who actually know me wish I was"? That is totally me.
Since I'm more of an introvert person, at first I'm shy, but get along with nice people quickly and start talking about every little thought which comes into my mind.
At home in Budapest I live with a friend of mine, and work as an IT support girl, during summers I'm a garmache chef in the United States.
However I was studying journalism and doing film studies next to that, I enjoyed working in this field for 3 years, due to a few things I had to finish this career - for now. But if anyone asks: I did film studies, so I can have neverending conversations about movies with anyone and always offer new films to my friends. Yes, that's why I did it. No regrets.
Whenever I have a little time and money, I grab my backpack and see what's on the other side of the globe and trying to achieve my dream: to stay awake for a night in the North while watching the Northern Lights. The North always amazed me more than any tropical place or beach - those are amazing and nice, too, but anything above 25 Celsius is not a dream-came-true for me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One of my best friends is a member since years and she made me realize, that it's a wonderful opportunity to get to know our beautiful planet better. I believe that no one can show you around a city or a region like someone, who actually lives there, so you can also get the real feeling of the place and meet the little, hidden places which make it amazing. And meeting new places and cultures by the people who live in it is for me one of the most interesting things in the world.
Unfortunately I have never been able to host (I live with my landlord and she doesn't support these kind of activities...), but I hope some day I can give back something for all the nice experiences I made thanks to the people who were my hosts.

Interests

Too much... Ask me about it. :)
Hiking, books, movies, video games, cycling, travel, psychology, photography, gastronomy...

Going on travel sites to book a ticket to visit family members in the UK and after 2 hours realizing, that I've planned three years of travelling, looking at the map and bus routes of the city, trying to learn Swedish, forgetting what the real plan was. What? Is that not a valid hobby? :D

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to almost every genre of music, the language doesn't matter either, just let it be music - but rock, punk and metal are the closest to my heart (some of my favourites are Rammstein, Die Toten Hosen, Foo Fighters, System of a Down, Ed Sheeran, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Mozart...)

I love every types of movies except horror films, and my favourite one is Forrest Gump.
About TV shows: mostly sitcoms, Shameless, Breaking Bad, Stranger Things and GoT.

I'm addicted to books as well, I'm a resident guest at the library and I read The Catcher in the Rye every year (sometimes twice).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Waking up one morning as a college student, not knowing what to do with my life and going to bed the same day as someone, who`s about to start working in the US in a couple of month. The quickest and the best decision I ever made.

And also, I`m on a long journey of coming over acrophobia by hiking as much as I can - hiking in Grand Canyon was definitely worth it!

Whatelsewhatelsewhatelse...
- sneaking in to a Rammstein concert at the age of 17, which was in a city 250 kms away from where I was living, making it back during the night - without anyone noticing it, ecspecially my parents
- fulfilled my childhood dream of going to New York
- 120 km long bicycle tour around the biggest lake in Middle Europe with my best friend
- jumped off a cliff (waterfall) in the middle of the forest after a hiking tour
- hiked up into a forest full of waterfalls, got lost and caught in the rain and met 2 of the nicest and most helpful persons in the middle of the forest in a little cabin

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak 4 languages and I can help you with Hungarian, English, German or maybe Italian.

Also I can share a few great Hungarian recipes with you and teach how to make it. If I have the time, I can also show you around the city, but at least I`ll tell you what not to miss in Budapest, and where are the best places to eat or go out in the night. ;)

Not too many people who come to Budapest know, that you can find some breathtaking hiking routes inside the city (since it is built on a hill and mountains) or close by. I would be more than glad to give some infos about it or even go with you. :)

If you haven't found any on the train station or didn't pick up one at the airport, I have a few maps, public transport maps and tourist guides at home which I can give or borrow you. (Well, it has its pros, when your sister works in a BP tourist office...)

What I Can Share with Hosts

First of all I promise to be the best guest I just can be, because if I use somebody's place, I know that the minimum is to respect them.
No worries, I had quite a few roommates already and most of them said that I am the best roomie they ever had.
While staying at your place, I can cook some delicious Hungarian foods if you allow me and you want to try it (I won't burn your kitchen, I swear ;D) and of course I'll bring you something from Hungary, if I have the opportunity to do that (when I'm away in the US, sadly it's not always possible).
And of course a lot of stories, if you can take that on... :)

And you can stay at my place if you visit Budapest - if I unfortunately won't have the opportunity to host you, then I'll try to help you by asking a few friends of mine or show you the cheapest option, and help you look around the city while you're there.
