About Me

Hi there!

I'm Andrea, a 28-years-old Italian living in Belgium. I'm at the 2nd year of my PhD in Political Communication at the University of Antwerp (i.e. other two years to go!).

I would define myself like a nice person (if that's not too pretentious!), talkative and sensitive. I love people who have sense of humour, but who can also talk about serious things.

I love travelling a lot, discovering new cultures and languages. Actually I love foreign languages, and i'd say that one of biggest dreams would be to become a kind of polyglot (in the long term, of course!)

I'm also kind of dreamer, in the sense I'd like to change a lot of things as they are now... I love talking about politics, but I promise I'll try not to bore you talking about the Italian situation and Silvio Berlusconi (I think I partially got over that phase!).

Finally, I deeply believe in serendipity. Have you ever tried to experience something really unexpected?? That's what I love... When destiny leads me to unknown places and new people...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe in sharing a couch, helping other people travelling.
When I was younger (many, many years ago!), I used to sleep in youth hostels when travelling, but I realised that it's definitely better to discover a new place with a person who lives there. A totally different experience, much deeper and more insightful!

So far, my CS experiences have always been great... Thanks to everybody who hosted me!

Interests

I would say politics is definitely the main interest I have. I also love foriegn languages, cinema, sport, music. I love to go out dancing as well! And yes, I really love cooking! (Italian cuisine of course!;))
P.S.:i also love beer...!

MOVIES: Gomorra (Garrone), Otto e mezzo (Fellini), La dolce vita (Fellini), L'esquive (Kechiche), Double indemnity (Wilders), Das Leben der anderen (Henckel von Donnersmarck), Caro Diario (Nanni Moretti), Soul Kitchen (Akin), etc......

MUSIC: Beatles, R.E.M., Radiohead, RHCP (before Californication), etc.

BOOKS: The Road (McCarthy), Brave New World (Huxley), The Island (Huxley), Tales of the black widows (Asimov), etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think living in different countries in the last few years, learning the host language and reaching a decent level of integration has been one amazing thing I'm very proud of. But maybe I should just do bungee jumping one day and make this section muche easier...! :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Linguistic and cultural exchange... that's pretty much what I expect from CS!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'll follow the 'mi casa es tu casa' philosophy, which includes being fed with pasta! ;)
