About Me

I'm originally from Ohio and lived in Los Angeles for 10 years, but now I live in Tokyo! This is the best city in the world and it's hard to believe I've been exploring it for over a year now.

I'm into all sorts of creative pursuits, especially music . I played in a lot of bands in LA and I write and produce music all the time, I've done some commercial work and recently finished my first film score.

Here in Tokyo I'm managing a dodgeball league that I founded (if you can believe that), teaching English on the side and working on my ramen blog. It's funny, traveling is probably my favorite thing in the world but lately I haven't felt the need to explore anywhere else, there's still too much to see here!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've had nothing but fantastic experiences with couchsurfing. I've surfed a number of times from Sapporo to Fukuoka and hope to be able to host people someday soon when I get my own apartment. It's such a great community and I always seem to meet the best people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a lot of bands. Just a few - The National, Beach House, The Dodos, Owen Pallett, Neutral Milk Hotel, Tame Impala, Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees, The Walkmen, Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

China's Huangshan Mountain after an ice storm is the most beautiful place I've ever seen... and moving to Tokyo was pretty amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm down for any sort of cultural exchange, and especially enjoy learning new languages (even if it's just how to say 'cheers!') I really need to improve my Japanese too, so any help there is welcome.

Life should be fun, so work hard at what you love but don't take anything (especially yourself) too seriously.

Countries I’ve Lived In

Japan, United States
