About Me

I am a dance person. I do many things related to dance, and love meeting people who do things other than dance so that I can have some variety in my life!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet locals! I am new to Spain, and would love to get to know the country better. Up for recommendations, short weekend trips and tips for making the most out of couchsurfing. I opened my account years ago, but this is the first time I am using it!

Interests

Ah, More things! As a dance artist I am interested in bringing people together, seeking pleasure and honest humour.
I enjoy spending time hearing about people's lives, about their adventures, the things they are into and the things they know a lot about. Oh, and I am always interested when a sentence starts with "Did you know...?!"

I don't like posing for photographs, although I enjoy taking and editing them. I prefer to take a mini dance video in museums / exhibits / sites. It makes for great memories as well 👌🏼

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all music I can move to...doesn't narrow it down very much.

Live percussion. House/techno for dancing or while running. Janis joplin for karaoke or trying to play guitar. 90s hip hop for reminiscing. Guilty pleasure pop music for various purposes ;)

Books: witty, funny, eloquent or informative. One hundred years of solitude, queering phenomenology, Bell hooks, Ngozi, Butler

Movies: a great documentary.
Comedies, but not really into Ben Stiller films or predictable slapstick humor. Cult classics, such as Ferris Bueller, Death Becomes Her and Clueless.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I would have to say that one amazing moment was attending Bobby McFerrin's concert in Toronto - although this story is better in person. Famous for his song "Don't worry be happy", but recognized by many as one of the most unique vocalist in the world. He invited any professional dancers in the audience to join him on stage. I was one of eight. He asked us to - one at a time - dance while he accompanied us. He gave me an encore <3

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always interested in learning something new...especially in the kitchen! I grew up with my father who never cooked much, and I've only really taught myself basics. Slowly collecting and perfecting new recipes. Very slowly.
BUT! I make amazing homemade salad dressings and an extremely delicious chocolate chip banana bread. It was a huge 5-batch hit in Germany ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer healing practices and dance and body knowledge! I have studied dance (and body work practices) for over 25 years, so if you are experiencing pain - anything from a headache to right muscles or achy knees - I could provide some healing and/or offer some advice.
I have begun studying auricular therapy (ear acupuncture done with mustard seeds!) from a Chinese medical doctor/friend in Canada.

Or maybe we just want to have a dance party??

Or maybe we want to quietly enjoy each other's company.
