Hello! I'm Vanessa, from the Southern Island of New Zealand.
I first used CS when I backpacked around Japan in 2015 and loved the experience; ever since I've tried to use the platform on almost every trip as a way to make new friends or just get the scoop on places to go.
I'm into most things. Love literature, art, history, wandering around cities, clambering around in the outdoors, changing my plans last minute, etc.
I've enrolled in more study for 2019 (Quantity Surveying and Construction Management woohoo) so am doing a last wee jaunt around the Americas before then. Prior to this shift I was working as an art teacher at a preschool and writing/art making in between. Still doing the art stuff. :-)

Even if I'm not open for hosting, I'm always keen to help out with recommendations or to grab a beer/food!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet new people, hear their stories, share some food/drink, and learn a bit about how others live! People are what make a culture and that's the part I enjoy discovering the most when I'm travelling.
I actually shared my friends CS profile while doing previous trips, so I'm not as new to this as my profile makes it seem haha.
