About Me

Aloha!

This is Vanessa, and I have been a language teacher for more than five years in China and Korea. Currently, I am doing my master’s degree in Hawaii. Hawaii is such a beautiful and welcoming place where people could enjoy the sunshine, beach, as well as a lot of ALOHA! So welcome to Honolulu and experience the Aloha spirit LOL.

I love reading, traveling, hiking with my friends on the weekend :)

Personality: open-minded, adventurous, hospitable.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Honesty, it has been a few years since the last time I tried Couchsurfing in Singapore. The couple (Irene and Fred) who hosted my friend and I in Singapore were nice and friendly, and they were willing to share their CS experience and perspectives with us. It was a really beautiful memory! Later I have been busy with my work, so I have not traveled a lot ever since. So I hope to reach out to more Couchsurfing friends and share my stories :)

Interests

I love reading, traveling, hiking with my friends on the weekend :)

Since my research is related to language learning and education, I hope to hear and share language learning experiences with CSers!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are a bunch of fantastic experiences to share, yet the first thing coming to my mind is the helicopter tour I took this March in Maui. The feeling of getting close to the sky, the ocean, the mountains, and the fall really made me appreciate life and feel so lucky being in this universe.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe every person is unique and every culture is different and worth understanding. Sometimes when we talk, we are not talking as Chinese, American or Spanish, but as a unique person and representing different outlooks. I hope to see a more diverse and wider world with you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Things I can share:
Good place for hiking in Honolulu.
Stories of hitchhiking to Tibet.
How to pick up a second language more quickly
etc.

Countries I’ve Visited

Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
